This week on the Better Show we are pleased to present Dr. Stephanie Estima's first solo episode on Fasting for Women. Dr. Stephanie thought she would share part of her presentation that she showed at Oxford University, who are currently working in the Oxford Longevity Project. Today’s topic is based around some of the differentials we have to consider with respect to fasting as a woman. This will be a series of episodes where we deep dive into this topic and it’s many facets, so buckle up we are headed to Nerdville. We start off with some basic differences between men & women and the leading cause of death for both sexes, Cardiovascular Disease. Then we push in the the benefits of fasting, insulin resistance and what it is like to approach fasting as a female rather than a male. We discuss the different types of fasting, Caloric or non-caloric and briefly touch on the double P…the period poops. Ladies, you know what we are talking about. We continue the episode by discussing the impact fasting has on your period, and what this means at certain stages of your life.
