Description

Is a vegan diet sustainable? Is the body’s fuel of choice fat or carbohydrates? Is sugar the real root of the problem? Vinnie Tortorich - the trainer to the stars - gives answers and isn’t apologetic when it comes to stating facts. Even as a student back at Tulane, he knew to ask questions when something did not seem right. With an educational background in physiology and nutrition, this fitness coach knows how valuable providing proper nutrition is for his clients. He's published book, three documentaries, and several businesses under his name, yet he still coaches simply because he loves it. Listen as Vinnie points out the importance of eating meat, gives us some historical facts on veganism, and even shares behind-the-scenes stories about his documentaries. For coffee snobs, stay tuned until the end because you might want to ask for part 2 of their conversation.Quick Guide:04:21 Introduction05:56 Percentage of vegans quit within the year10:33 The disease of the month14:57 The interest in the subject16:43 Impact of nutrition on the diseases patients have18:21 From fats to carbohydrates, what really fuels the body?21:39 Sugar is to blame22:56 Veganism, Dieticians, and Seventh Day Adventist Church32:41 The story of Gary Fettke and Timothy Noakes36:31 Creating a documentary49:29 Moving out of LA51:58 Vinnie’s career journey58:01 Making a mark and helping people along the way1:00:58 The best coffee is the one you likeGet to know our guest:Vinnie Tortorich is a celebrity fitness trainer and the founder of the NSNG (No Sugar No Grains) Lifestyle. He was a morbidly obese heart surgeon. Through high school, college, med school and surgical training, he followed the U.S. dietary guidelines for both diet and exercise. Yet nothing he did could keep the weight off. Each day in the operating theater he would split open the chests of people just like himself. He was heading for the operating table and knew he had to find solutions that worked. In 2016, he finally found a way to lose 100 pounds and keep it off. Now - in addition to doing heart surgery - he helps people just like himself get healthy, lose the weight and keep it off. Dr. Philip Ovadia is now a rebel M.D. working to keep people OFF his operating table.
