Description

One of the hottest formats in Ultrarunning is the backyard ultra; which is a format that takes place in, you guessed it: a backyard.
The rules are simple: every hour, you’ll run a 4.167 mile loop until you can’t anymore. But there’s a catch: you have to finish the loop before the hour ends. And you keep going until there is only one person left in the race.
If you’re thinking about training for a backyard ultra, want to dive deep into what a backyard ultra race looks like, or are just curious to learn more about the format, this is the episode for you!
Today we have on Chris Murphy who is an accomplished ultra runner hailing from Australia. Chris has completed Big’s Backyard Ultra, (add stats here)
And in this episode, Chris breaks down all of the nitty-gritty details behind how he trained for these races, what his best advice is for backyard ultras, and some amazing stories from his experience.
