Description

This week, we had the pleasure of speaking to acclaimed author and Boston Marathoner, Elise Hooper, about her new book, Fast Girls, which we devoured in two days because it’s SO good. Hooper shares why she decided to write a book about the the true stories of three members of the first integrated women’s Olympic team, Betty Robinson, Helen Stephens, and Louise Stokes, and their journeys to a place on the track team in the 1936 summer games in Berlin. Hooper shares the incredible obstacles these three trailblazing women had to overcome, including surviving a plane crash, enduring systematic racism, and an extraordinarily uncomfortable meeting with Adolf Hitler. to run in Berlin. The book will be released on July 7, 2020, and can be found through any local or national bookseller and can be pre-ordered at www.bookshop.org.
