Description
I love this episode because it’s all about bees and how to protect and appreciate them for all they do. Today’s guest Carly Stein founded a company dedicated to doing exactly this. It’s called Beekeeper’s Naturals and I used their bee propolis spray nonstop this winter to keep the flu away. (I think it’s safe to say now without jinxing myself… it worked!)
In the face of a declining bee population, this is such an important topic to understand. Our planet would look completely different without bees and we’d lose many of the crops we know and love. I’m grateful to Carly for being here… let’s dive in!
Beekeeper’s Naturals: More Than Honey
Not only is Carly a beekeeper herself, she developed very innovative bee-made nutraceuticals that provide effective natural solutions to a lot of modern health problems. And it isn’t just honey, either. Honey has a lot of great benefits of its own, but Carly also explains how bee pollen and bee propolis can help fight illness, allergies, and poor nutrition. You can even use bee pollen as a pre-workout boost!
I also love Beekeeper’s Naturals because they have such a strong commitment to raising awareness and funds to help the bee cause in general. This interview helped me understand even more how important and fascinating bees really are, and steps we can take to make sure they stay around for our kids’ generation and beyond.

19: The Real Causes of Tooth Decay: I’ve been fascinated by oral health and it’s connection to whole-body health for a long time. I’ve looked for answers to questions like “Can teeth heal” and “What really causes tooth decay” and this podcast episode addresses those same questions. What Really Causes Tooth Decay? Will Revak of OraWellness.com and I talk about the relationship between food and overall health and the health of the mouth. With statistics like “98% of adults in the US have some form of oral health problem,” it is time to start looking more deeply into the relationship of diet and lifestyle to oral health. The cultural understanding is that sugar sitting on the teeth causes tooth decay and that brushing, flossing and maintaining good oral hygiene is the key to good oral health. Turns out that the data doesn’t really support these ideas though.
