About this ebook

The good news is Ruby and Nolan will never drown! The bad news is they are Merpeople forever! Nolan thinks it is great. It's only a couple of small scars on their necks! Ruby is not so thrilled! She promises a beat-down if Nolan laughs once. Their parents are afraid they will not be accepted as humans if the whole family is sent home to Old Earth.

Do not worry; the dragons, the others, and the Merpeople are like humans and probably won't make them leave, but do they want to leave their whole family and maybe never see them again?

Mr. Hendricks returns with two new people! When Hendricks receives and presents his counter-proposal, the sparks fly between the two groups.

The youngsters ignore the sparks and create a few sparks of their own! With "borrowed" cars and equipment, they plan to explore the continent from home across the ocean. While the adults are duking it out, they escape and set up the first camp on the continent, planning to explore in hopes of meeting new people and discovering what their parents don't want them to see!

Author

Brenda Colbath

Creating worlds and characters and wielding power like a madwoman makes my characters happy, sad, angry, and have no redeeming qualities. I laugh aloud when writing a scene, and I have been known to cry when one of my favorites dies. I am a left-handed Gemini; what do you expect?

    Dedication

My eternal thanks go to the Weller family for allowing me to publish these stories about their family's fabled fictional adventures in outer space. Ruby and Nolan adopted us the first day we parked our Motor Home in their driveway in Seattle, Washington, for a couple of weeks one summer while visiting our daughter, Dawnzella Gearhart. Ruby and Nolan knew when our RV curtains opened, it was okay to come down and visit with us, and we could all imagine driving our Motor Home on adventures.

I loved making the Barbie and G. I. Joe clothes for Ruby and Nolan, but as they started to outgrow them, finding the right thing for their Christmas presents became more difficult.  One year, I got a wild idea of writing a book with the Weller family as its main characters. I had a blast sending them into space, traveling several light-years from Earth via a wormhole, and settling on a new uninhabited plane! That was five years ago, and five books later, they are still asking for more chapters.

Our adventurers discovered other life on the planet, and so far, they have met three more inhabitants! Ruby and Nolan’s nickname for my daughter Dawnzella is Dawnzereli. When I was looking for a name for the dragon friend, I chose Donzereli. Like the dragon in our story, she is brave, strong, and funny. Thank you, Dawnzella, for allowing me to turn you into a boy dragon, and thank you for always being the first person to buy my books, even though I let you read them before they were published.

As you may know from my other books' dedications, this is a family affair. My husband, Shirl, reads and re-reads the drafts and checks the timeline and spelling that Grammarly and I miss. He has learned Gimp to make book covers. He works hard to bring my vivid imagination to life on the cover to give you an idea of what is inside, waiting for you.

No one is perfect, but we do our best because, after all, we want to entertain both youngsters and oldsters.

These books are written for children who can read or for parents to read to them. There is a lot of dialogue to make it fun to read in different voices. In books, we can travel to distant, exciting lands and imagine being the hero. Reading to my children until they fell asleep was as much fun for me as it was for them, and they are both avid readers.

    Prologue:

If you have read Ruby and Nolan’s Great Adventures in Space, Book 1: The Science Project, Book 2: Dragon Flight, Book 3: The Keep, Book 4: The Others, and Book 5: The Wormhole, you can skip right to Chapter 1 of Ruby and Nolan’s Great Adventures in Space, Book 6: Merpeople.

The Weller family, consisting of Ty, Robin, Ruby, Nolan, and Pebbles, their dog, agreed to be part of a settlement on a newly discovered uninhabited planet several light-years from Mother Earth. I am not sure that Pebbles agreed to go, but she is happy to be part of the family! They arrive on the Planet via spaceship, slipping through a wormhole, taking days, instead of years, to go between worlds.

You will remember that in book one, Ruby and Nolan stumble upon a pretty rock. They decide to keep it for a secret science experiment
