About this ebook

Ruby and Nolan traveled with their parents to an uninhabited planet if they could bring "Uncle Dawnzereli," their dog Pebbles, and they wanted ponies.

Yikes! Their science project hatches, and a baby Dragon bonds with them! They named him Donzereli after their strong, wonderful Uncle Dawnzereli, who they thought of as an Aunt.

It would be an understatement to say Ty and Robin were disappointed that the "baby dragon" was kept secret from them for many weeks. Meeting his parent was a shock. The settlers accepted the real live Dragons after Donzereli became the highlight of the Festival of Lights by giving all the kids a ride on his back.

Ruby, Nolan, Bonnie, and Shamus tell their parents they are going on a picnic. Dr. Rodney Allen hitches a ride with the adventurers, or he would tell their parents their destination.

Book 2 is called "Dragon Flight" for a reason! Friends of Donzereli are flying Dragons to Donzereli's home in the north mountain!

If that doesn't sound exciting enough, wait a minute! Does being kidnapped by creatures resembling Yeti's sound like fun? Or would being netted and hauled up to a flying car sound more like fun?

Wasn't this planet supposed to be uninhabited?

Brenda Colbath

Creating worlds and characters and wielding power like a madwoman makes my characters happy, sad, angry, and have no redeeming qualities. I laugh aloud when writing a scene, and I have been known to cry when one of my favorites dies. I am a left-handed Gemini; what do you expect?

    Dragon Flight - Brenda Colbath

    Dedication

My eternal thanks go to the Weller family for allowing me to publish these stories. This book is a Christmas present for our two young friends, Ruby and Nolan. We have been friends with their family for many years, and we parked our Motor Home in their yard for several weeks one summer while visiting our daughter. We had a blast playing with the kids. They allowed us to re-live, having our grown children back with us.

Sewing and Crocheting Barbie and G.I. Joe's clothes for Ruby and Nolan was fun, but they were outgrowing them. One year, out of desperation, I sat down at the computer and wrote a Sci-Fi Fantasy story with them as the two main characters. I decided it was going to be an adventure, and the idea hit me; have the family agree to travel many light years to an uninhabited planet as settlers.

Since I know Ty and Robin are pretty smart people, I decided to make them the leaders of the group of settlers picked to travel to the new planet discovered in another solar system.

Thanks to my Daughter Dawnzella for allowing me to turn her into a Dragon. A boy, Dragon! My thanks to my Grandchild, Jaz P. Colbath, for the cover illustration. My love, and thanks to my talented husband, Shirl, for learning Gimp to create my book covers. And thanks to my Son Chris for helping me navigate Word.

    Prologue: The Weller Family

If you have read Book 1: Science Experiment, you may skip to Chapter 1.

Ty, Robin, Ruby, and Nolan Weller committed to being part of the exploration and settlement of a newly discovered planet in another Solar system 6 light years from Earth.

Ruby and Nolan agreed to go but wanted to bring Uncle Dawnzereli, their dog Pebbles, and they wanted ponies. Unfortunately, Uncle Dawnzereli and the ponies did not happen. But Ruby and Nolan were happy in their new home on New Earth.

Inspecting Solar Panels on the hill above their home, Ruby and Nolan discover two were destroyed. They found a pretty rock and were surprised that their science project was not a rock at all but an egg.

Yikes! It hatches, and the baby is a relative of the clan of Dragons from the northern mountains. They help the baby out of his shell, and after the shock wears off, he bonds with them; they name him Donzereli after their Uncle Dawnzereli back on old earth.

Ty and Robin are very disappointed (this is an understatement) that the kids kept this secret. Eventually, they and the other settlers accepted that there were real live Dragons on their planet, and everyday life settled into a routine.

Donzereli becomes the highlight of the Festival of Lights by flying all the children on his back, cementing the friendship between the two races.

Ruby, Nolan, their best friends Bonnie, and Shamus tell their parents they would like to go on a picnic; the parents approve the plan. No one notices that more food than four
