The Science Project: Ruby & Nolan's Great Adventures in Space, #1
()
About this ebook
How does a family cope with making life-changing decisions? Does the family become closer or drift apart?
Let's peek inside the lives of a family of four that makes a decision not many will ever make. They agreed to leave the comfort of their home, families, and earth and journey to an uninhabited planet many light-years away.
The entire family makes the journey. However, this story is mainly about their two pre-teens' adventures.
Ruby and Nolan Weller make their weekly climb up the hill by their home to check the Solar Panels. They are shocked to find two of them mangled and broken beyond repair. Searching for tracks of the animal that did the damage, they discover a large, brightly colored rock. Deciding it would be a great science project, they slide it down the hill with one small mishap and hide it in their play fort's wood box.
For the next few weeks, they conduct their scientific study. When it starts growing, they realize it isn't a rock at all; it is an egg! They know back on earth, eggs do not grow! Whatever is in that egg, it is big! And it is hatching!
Nolan hopes it is a pony, even though he knows ponies do not hatch from eggs. Ruby thinks it might be a chicken or a bird but is concerned with its size! What could go wrong? After all, it will be a baby.
This is book one of a series of 7 young adult adventures.

Creating worlds and characters and wielding power like a madwoman makes my characters happy, sad, angry, and have no redeeming qualities. I laugh aloud when writing a scene, and I have been known to cry when one of my favorites dies. I am a left-handed Gemini; what do you expect?

Dedication
My eternal thanks go to the Weller family for allowing me to publish these stories.
These books were created out of desperation, searching for ideas for Christmas presents for our two young friends, Ruby and Nolan, and they were getting harder to find. We parked our Motor Home in their yard for several weeks one summer, and we had a blast playing with them. It was kind of like re-living and having our children with us again.
I decided to write a Fantasy Sci-Fi adventure story starring the whole Weller family. They became the leaders of a group of settlers who were picked to travel to a new, uninhibited planet several light years from Mother Earth!
This is a story of how a family copes with making a life-changing decision. We have all had to make them at least once in our lives. Do you wonder if the family becomes closer or drifts apart?
This fictional story lets you peek into the lives of one family of four that makes the decision not many families have ever had or ever will have to make. They agreed to leave the comfort of their home, families, and Mother Earth to journey to an uninhabited planet light years away.
The whole family makes the journey together. However, this story is mainly about two pre-teens' adventures on New Earth. Ruby, Nolan, Bonnie, Shamus, and Donzereli try but can’t seem to stay out of trouble! They just want to have fun and adventures!
You could say my writing is a family affair! Thanks to my Daughter, Dawnzella, for editing, helping with covers, and allowing me to turn her into a boy Dragon! My husband, Shirl, of 62 years, and I bounce ideas back and forth. Jaz for cover art, and our Son Chris for helping me navigate Word.

––––––––
Come on, Ruby, hurry up!
Nolan cried. He was always impatient when it was Ruby’s turn to do the breakfast dishes.
Frowning, Ruby quickly turned from the sink; the front of her wet apron was covered with soap bubbles cascading to the floor. Keep your britches on, Nolan! You know our chores have to be done before we can leave!
Ruby was tall for her age, a little over 4 feet; she would grow another foot and a half when she reached her full height. Her long, wavy brown hair fell nearly to her waist, and at this moment, her big Blue eyes were snapping at her impatient little brother, Nolan. Her slim figure showed she was on her way to becoming a beautiful young woman, way too soon for her parents, especially for Daddy Ty’s comfort.
Okay, okay, what can I do to help?
Nolan asked, standing there trying not to look impatient but losing that battle.
Nolan was not as tall as Ruby yet, but he was growing fast enough that he was threatening to overtake her in a year or two. He was standing with his hands on his hips, his blue eyes sparkling over an impish grin under a shock of curly light brown hair.
"Why don’t you get our backpacks, swords, and sheaths? I am nearly finished with the dishes, and I will pack a lunch so
