Going grey gracefully

The ferreting season is flying by and, with this in mind, it was time to travel over the hills again to see how my friend Danny and his working dog Bill were getting on. The weather was icy cold, windy and wet, so we decided to leave the nets behind and enjoy some quality time bolting to the dogs. You could almost see my own dog Tawny smile when we said we would leave the nets in the truck.

Tawny now carries more grey hairs than I do and, as I watched her jump into the van, I thought perhaps she had become a spent ferreting force.
