It’s all rocks and holes for the A team

Hindsight is a wonderful gift. Looking back at life events — or a day’s ferreting — it’s always easy to identify what you should have done. Regular readers will remember a recent hedge my friend Ben and I tackled with some of my young ferrets (Famous five on a mission, 8 December 2021). The rabbits had been very big and, though the hedge wasn’t dense, it mantled the ruins of an ancient stone wall.
In an effort to mop up the rabbits that the youngsters had missed, Ben and I returned. In the meantime, however, the hedge had been trimmed and the sharp trimmings spread out across the earth meant that digging was going to be interesting.
