Three Stories about Animals - Victoria Harwood

Tiu the Tortoise was born from a small white round egg. All of her many brothers and sisters were born the same way.

Some time ago, their mother laid her eggs in some sandy soil and left them there; now they have begun hatching. Tortoises and turtles are very similar and closely related, but the first live mainly on the land, and turtles live in the sea.

Both Turtle and Tortoise babies need to get out of the ground on their own and look for food for themselves from a very young age.

The day was sunny and warm; bushes grew nearby, the grass swayed in the wind, and wildflowers rejoiced at the new sunny day.

All the little Tortoises scattered in different directions. Only her brother Tao remained with little Tiu. They sniffed around, got to know each other and decided that together, it would be more fun and not so scary. Tiu and Tao decided which direction to take; they will help each other during their explorations.

Along the way, they tried different plant leaves and flowers. Their favourite was dandelion leaves; the flower itself was fragrant and tasty; there were plentiful here. After eating, they decided it was better to hide
