Our cookbook is more than just a collection of recipes-it is a testament to the enduring spirit of Southern hospitality and the love that binds families together around the dinner table. For over seven decades, these recipes have been lovingly prepared and shared, creating lasting bonds and unforgettable moments. In addition to the recipes, you're not only getting feed physically, but your soul is being feed withspiritual inspirations from God's word following each recipe.

The South's culinary landscape is as diverse as its people, with each region boasting its own unique flavors and culinary customs. From the Lowcountry of South Carolina to the bayous of Louisiana, our recipes draw inspiration from the bounty of the land and the rich cultural heritage that defines the Southern way of life.

As we pay homage to the culinary traditions of our ancestors, we also embrace the evolving tastes of modern Southern cuisine. While some recipes remain unchanged, others have been adapted to suit the changing times, incorporating new ingredients and cooking techniques without sacrificing the soulful essence that defines Southern cooking.

In these pages, you will find a treasure trove of Southern classics, from crispy fried catfishand fluffy buttermilk biscuits to creamy tomato gravy and decadent carrot cake. Each recipe is a labor of love, crafted with care and attention to detail, and imbued with the flavors of home.

But beyond the ingredients and techniques lies a deeper story-a story of family, love, and tradition. Behind each recipe is a cherished memory, whether it's the scent of biscuits baking in the oven or the laughter shared over a pot of simmering Brunswick stew. These recipes are more than just food; they are a reflection of who we are and where we come from.

    Festive Yuletide Ham-Cheese Ball

    Servings: 8-10   Prep time:20 min   Chillingtime:2hrs

    Ingredients

1 package (8oz) cream cheese, softened

1 cup sharp cheese, finely shredded

    2 tbsp. grated onion

    1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

    1 Tbsp. lemon juice

    1 tsp mustard

    1/2 tsp paprika

    1/2 tsp salt

    1/2 cup deviled ham

    2 Tbsp. parsley flakes

    2 Tbsp. diced pimento

    1/2 cup chopped pecans

    Directions

    1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sharp cheese. Use a hand mixer or a wooden spoon to blend until smooth and well combined.

    2. Add grated onion, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, mustard, paprika, and salt to the cheese mixture. Continue mixing until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

    3. Fold in the deviled ham, parsley flakes, and diced pimento, ensuring they are distributed evenly throughout the mixture.

    4. Shape the mixture into a ball and wrap it in plastic wrap. Place it in the refrigerator to chill for at least 2 hours, allowing the flavors to meld and the ball to firm up.

    5. While the cheese ball is chilling, spread the chopped pecans on a plate. Once the cheese ball has set, roll it in the chopped pecans, coating the entire surface.

    6. Place the pecan-coated cheese ball on a serving platter and garnish with additional parsley flakes and pimento for a festive touch.

    7. Serve the Yuletide Ham-Cheese Ball with an assortment of crackers or sliced baguette.

*Note: You can prepare this Yuletide Ham-Cheese Ball a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator until ready to serve. The flavors will continue to develop, making it even more delicious!

Just as we need food to sustain our physical lives, we also need nourishing food for our spiritual lives. God's Word is sweeter than honey and the honeycomb (Psalm 19:10) and it feeds our souls.

Let's take time to feed on it daily (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-2; Acts 1711).
