    YOU

    [SELF IDENTIFICATION]

    One sentence that describes the word [YOU]-you are the one with the skills.

    Everyone is born with a purpose to serve and to be a benefit to the community. The first step is YOU, this means before you get to achieve and give, you have to know who you are.

    This step is the first because when you know what you have, it will be easy for you to give it. Jesus one day asked his disciples, whom they say that he was. Peter then answered and said the Christ, Jesus then replied and said; only God in heaven has revealed this to you. This shows us the importance of knowing and focusing on your self-identity which is revealed to you.

    Gideon in the bible, an angel of the Lord appeared to him and called him, a mighty man of valor. He did not know anything about this identity and he had doubts. We hear him saying, if I am a man of valor, how come all this trouble has befallen upon us, I am the least in my father’s house, and my clan is the weakest in the region.

    This shows us that you can know yourself through divine revelation.

    Divine revelation is sometimes the best because, who God says you are, is who you end up becoming. This is because God knows the end from the beginning. In the above situation we can learn that you can pray to God for him to give you a revelation of who you are. For David, it took Samuel to be sent to him by God to tell him that he was going to become the King of Israel. This revelation came through the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and it transformed his life from that day.

    For a person to really know his or her identity there is a greater need of the Holy Spirit, which is the Spirit of truth to abide in him. Jesus Christ said to his disciples when he was about to leave them, I will not leave you alone, but I will send the Holy Spirit, he will lead you to all truth, and he will take what is mine and reveal it to you. Jesus was promising them that they will know who they are after receiving the Holy Spirit. After the Holy Spirit came on Peter, we see the YOU step in him when he stood up boldly to tell the people about Jesus. From that day he knew himself that he was a speaker of the gospel to the
