    Alice woke up and blinked. She sat up wondering what the card of the day would be. She got up and wasted no time getting dressed and brushing her hair. She joined Madeline and Eliot in the kitchen for breakfast. Everyone was quiet and hungry.

    They sat down and soon were eating a good breakfast. Madeline could still cook tasty meals for which she was grateful. She knew some people lost the ability as they aged. She hoped it wouldn’t happen to her.

    She had much to say to her roommates, but she knew better than to speak to the young elves until after they had eaten their breakfast. She knew they were still a bit groggy from sleep, but that would change soon.

    When they were finished, Madeline went to the tarot
