‘SO, WHERE’S my invitation for the party?” Maria asks.
I take a deep breath as I turn to look at her. She’s smiling brightly and she has little dances in her movement.
“No party plans,” I reply, hoping she’ll get the hint that I was trying to forget about it.
Another one of our colleagues, Lira, joins us, and they both stand there staring at me, their eyes glimmering with excitement.
“That’s what you think,” Lira says under her breath, but I hear her. They exchange looks and smiles.
“No, you didn’t!” I say shaking my head. Lira smiles and skips towards me and pulls my arm.
“Now, come on now. You thought you could get away?”
I reluctantly walk
