The Story of Ning, Dog, & Boss: Sleep Travelers, #1
()
About this ebook
Zoo keeper Mr. Shirl, who looks like Little Dawnie's daddy, takes the friends on a tour of the Zoo, showing them how to play the games and the fun rides and introducing them to the Tigers, Lions, and Bears. Oh My! Dog explains to Ning and Boss that they are really at home, sound asleep! They are Sleep Walkers! They cannot be hurt on their adventures, and if they are afraid of anything or are in danger, they will wake up in their own beds! Because, of course, they are Sleep Walkers! Imagine riding Orchid the Orca whale and having no problem breathing underwater! Imagine riding Ella the elephant or Harold the hippo! Do you want to meet the Lion Tamers Tigers and take a ride on their backs! Our adventurers talk to the animals, and they talk back! Tigger tells them of when the mean little kid climbed into his cage and tried to ride on his back, that Tigger was shot by the Ranger and slept for a whole day! The Sleep Travelers thought the kid should have been shot! How about Mr. Shirl cooking burgers, fries, and hotdogs for all the Sleep Travelers, including the animals, and everyone had fun making a big mess with a food fight? But not to worry, because all they have to do is "Think clean," and it is all cleaned up!

Creating worlds and characters and wielding power like a madwoman makes my characters happy, sad, angry, and have no redeeming qualities. I laugh aloud when writing a scene, and I have been known to cry when one of my favorites dies. I am a left-handed Gemini; what do you expect?

The Story of Ning, Dog, & Boss - Brenda Colbath
This book has been a Labor of Love. Dawnzella is my Dawta and firstborn and holds a special place in my heart. She is my Rock; she picks me up when I fall on my face and kicks me in the butt when it is needed.
She is the lonely little girl in this story. Most children have one imaginary playmate; my Dawta had three. She spent many hours playing with them, having imaginary adventures on our Sun Porch in Fairfield, Maine.
She does not remember what they were, but she remembers their names! Ning, Dog, and Boss were her imaginary playmates. After all, she was three years old.
My imagination created this version to fit my concept of what they might have been. When Dawnzella was little, we did have a Siamese cat, and as an adult, she fostered an African Gray Parrot. There is always some truth in fiction. Her fellow adventurers could have been a Dog, a Cat, and a Parrot.
I thank her for allowing me to delve into her precious childhood memories and share them and for editing and proofreading.
Also, my thanks and admiration go to my faithful husband, Shirl, portrayed as Ranger Shirl in this book. He also does my covers, edits, and proofreads too. He never tries to bring me down to earth
with my crazy ideas for books. His encouragement is what keeps me going.
I value the encouragement of my entire family unit.
This includes Jaz, our talented Grandchild, and our Son Christopher. Without whose love and encouragement I would never write another word.
I Love You More!

Prologue:
A child’s imagination is a wonderful thing and must be encouraged. They vividly imagine being the Captain of their Pirate ship, the hero of their adventure, handsome, beautiful, brilliant, and strong. They conquer the world and do anything and everything! The lucky ones keep that childhood wonder! It is so sad many adults lose it on the long, bumpy road to adulthood. This is the beginning of the story of a young girl who will never lose that childhood wonder.
Her adventure begins when she goes to sleep! Dog and Dawnzella (Dawnie) take her new friends Ning and Boss on an adventure, visiting the animals at the Zoo.
Come along and meet Ning and Boss as they hopefully
