THE JOURNEY BEGINS
About the Author
––––––––
One more time and... start again!
Before we start this incredible journey, I want you to get serious. You need a permission slip to get on board. Don't worry. It only takes 30 seconds!
Just imagine that I'm reading to you the descriptions below out loud. If you see yourself in any of these situations, please use your pen to highlight them, or just smile.
Let’s get acquainted!
You were highly determined to get up early. Then you succeeded in turning off the alarm and going back to sleep.
You promised to exercise every day to lose weight, and now you are still beautiful and chubby.
You forced yourself to be more confident. When the opportunity came, you still hesitated. Maybe next time....
You had a strong desire to change after a motivational seminar. A few days later, that desire was gone.
You carefully planned to achieve a goal. Now that plan is somewhere over the rainbow.
You really wanted to spend your money wisely, but you had to borrow some money to pay your bills the next month.
You struggled with time management, but in the end you still find yourself wasting a lot of time.
You swore to get rid of a bad habit. After a while, you had to swear again.
You think that if we keep going like this, you will highlight until your pen breaks, or smile until your face hurts.
Good news and bad news
If you highlighted most of the above descriptions or keep on smiling, you are like most people. That's good news because you have no problem. You are a perfectly normal person!
BUT...
What if your whole life were like that?
What if you keep trying to change, but nothing changes?
What if people you know reach their goals one by one, and you just get stuck in the mud?
Well, I know that unpleasant feeling.
That's where this book comes in. I'm not sure whether it could change you or not. The only person who has the ultimate power to change your life is you.
However, there is one thing that I'm sure of.
If you seriously follow the instructions in this book, you can build any new habit that you want. A life of 80 years is a journey of more than 29.000 days. If you can create new habits, your daily routine will change, the results of each day will be different, leading to better outcomes of each week, each month, and each year.
Wouldn’t your life change too?
That's why the book is titled...
Change your habits, master your life.
You might think, Wow, it’s so good to change the habits and receive great results in my life!
However, a small voice in your head might say, Don’t you remember how many times you have failed? How many goals and plans have you abandoned? Creating habits is so difficult!
I agree. You may have failed to create dozens of new habits, but don’t forget that you’ve also successfully built hundreds of old ones. Do you brush your teeth every day? Do you turn off the alarm clock every morning then go back to your sweet dream?
Old or new, good or bad, they are all habits. If you could create many old ugly habits, you can also create new beautiful habits. Every reason is just an excuse, covering the truth: You haven’t got a suitable method yet.
Good or bad, they are all habits!
As soon as you understand the science behind your behavior, you will realize that creating new habits is easier than you think. Even quitting an old habit is not so hard. This book will provide you with many practical tools to achieve your goals.
The book is not only the experience I gained from ten years of training tens of thousands of people in Vietnam, but also from human behavior specialist B.J Fogg, a professor from Stanford University who has more than 20 years of studying human behavior, and his Amazon best-seller Tiny Habits. Most of all, this is my 30 years of trying to change a stubborn man, who you will meet later.
I got the certificate above after completing the course Masterclass in Tiny Habits by B.J Fogg. In 2015, to participate in that course, you had to invest $400 USD. Now it’s $1700 USD. Indeed, that investment has paid off!
If you had been in the course with me, you would have had an incredible journey. Day by day, you would have realized many mistakes that most people make when trying to change themselves in the old ways. These little-known mistakes not only wasted their time and money but also led them to poor results.
Practice while reading
I always keep in mind that you can read, read more, but do not read forever without taking action.
There are many exercises in this book. You should carry a pen along and do them as soon as possible. If you have an account to read this book online via edu.fususu.com, you can comment after each chapter and get support from other readers and from me.
Only action can produce the result. No matter how difficult a habit is, it’s just a behavior that you repeat until you don’t have to think about it.
Note: This book is truly a treasure chest, and is not large enough to hold all the gold and diamonds of knowledge I want to give you. Therefore, I asked my friend to keep a part of it. You know him, too. It’s Mr.Google. If I give you a keyword in the book, you can type it precisely on google to get the treasure.
3 LITTLE-KNOWN MISTAKES that prevent people from changing
In the past, there was a man who annoyed me so much. I wanted him to change, but no matter how I tried, he never changed. His first name was My, and his last name was Self. He was My-Self.
Now, he and I are getting along very well. He exercises more, drinks water regularly, and has many healthy habits. More importantly , he now spends at least one hour on his big dream every day. It’s all thanks to the M.A.D secret that you will discover in this chapter.
M.A.D is not only the answer for the mystery of the disease relapse after just a few days,
but also a scientific alternative for the ineffective ways that people use to change themselves.
If you are ready, turn to the next page to uncover the first secret. It’s the most common, little-known, and dangerous mistake that prevents people from building any habit. It also keeps them frustrated whenever they try to change someone else.
1st Mistake: Abuse of Motivation
You may find the above message so funny, but it also tells us a serious truth. People believe that they can’t succeed without it; they can’t live without it; they can’t change themselves without it. What is that?
People call it by many names, including determination, inspiration, aspiration. It’s just simply an emotion that motivates us to do something. It’s Motivation.
The M in the M.A.D formula stands for Motivation.
You might find it weird. However, just depending on Motivation to do something is the number one reason for fatal failure in habit creation.
Do you remember the permission slip asked from you at the beginning of this book? Did you notice the text in the bold red format? If you're too lazy to go back there, I've listed them below for you. Can you guess the thing they have in common?
highly determined,
promised
forced yourself
carefully planned
strong desire
really wanted
struggled
swore to get rid of
Yes!!! These words describe intense emotion. I agree that when you need to make an important decision or carry out a challenging task, motivation definitely helps you get things done quickly. However, it would be a big mistake if you use motivation
