About this ebook

Have you ever felt like you were being punished for doing good? Have you suffered setbacks even though you have stepped up and taken over in uncertain and shaky situations? Or maybe you have been passed up on promotions because of forces of darkness that you didn't even know were against you? Have you been "persecuted for righteousness' sake"? Trust the Process can help you navigate some of life's challenges. What I have learned and am still learning is sometimes what God has for you is bigger than the place that you are in.

What you are going through isn't fair, and it seems like around every corner the enemy is trying to make you give up. The dream God has placed in you is too big; the vision just seems to be so far out of reach because of your current situation. Your dreams and visions require resources that physically seem impossible, and your soul is in anguish because it feels like you have been believing in a move of God for a lifetime. Trust the Process will shine some light in these uncertain and trying times.

    About the Author

    Introduction

On January 11, 2017, the Buffalo Bills hired Sean McDermott as the new head coach of the team. And with that came the phrase that you will read throughout the entirety of this book: Trust the process. Coach McDermott explained in his first interview and in several other interviews how the fans and the organization as a whole are going to have to buy in and trust the process and how a lot of the changes that needed to be made/will be made are for the betterment of the team, to become a playoff caliber and eventually Super Bowl caliber team. Now before I go any further, I just want to let you, the reader, know that this is not a sports book, so don't worry; I'm just building my case. I'm building a case on how God used the phrase Trust the process to deal with the issues that I had built up in my spirit, how I threw more punches at the enemy than I actually landed. So I ask that you bear with me through this journey.

Coach McDermott dismantled my favorite team on the planet. He traded away top receivers, linemen, and defense, etc. Whatever wasn't bolted to the floor, he and the new general manager got rid of it. They signed some players whom I had never heard of and drafted players from colleges in states that I didn't know had institutions of higher learning. As a fan, I watched from the outside, and I was terrified at what was happening. I was saying we couldn't even get wins with good players; how on earth are we going to get wins with players who are not even starting on other teams? I was acting like a fan—no football background and no real understanding of how the cap works, and the extent of my drafting, signing, and letting players walk knowledge was in Madden. It looked ugly and seemed like we the Buffalo Bills were about to have another year of mediocrity, but I had decided, in myself, that I was going to trust that the front office of the Buffalo Bills and Coach McDermott knew what needed to be done for the team to get where it deserved to be. After some tough losses and some painstakingly hard games, the process started to work. And to make a long story short, the Bills made the playoffs for the first time in seventeen years.

I know what you're thinking. What in the world does this have to do with my walk with Christ? How can I apply this to my life? And I refuse to become a fan of any football team, let alone the Buffalo Bills. Haha, I understand. Let's fast forward to about two years in January 2019. I was praying and being open and honest with God as we should all be. I said, "Lord, I believe this is it for me. I have done all that I can think of to make life work in my favor. I pray for others and myself. I am a giver. I try to love unconditionally. I treat others better than myself. I work hard. I really work hard. I tell people about Your goodness and Your grace, and it just seems like it is not enough to push the needle in my favor. Lord, everything I have has fallen apart—relationships, success at work, finances, etc., and it seems like the more I place in Your hands, the more it falls apart. I am tired, Lord. I am tired. Lord, I believe You exist. I know better than to challenge Your existence, Your power, and Your majesty. You are real, but I just don't think it's supposed to happen to me. As I ended my prayer, I said, I will continue to tell people about how good You are and share Your Word as You have ordained me to do. However, as for seeking the head and continuing to receive the tail, as for not getting seen for the effort I put into my job and not getting
