This is for you…the real you…the you that you haven’t fully comprehended and the you the world has yet to see. I’m cheering and praying for you.

    Keep going!

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,

Because the LORD has anointed me

    To bring good news to the afflicted;

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

    To proclaim liberty to captives

And freedom to prisoners; To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD

    And the day of vengeance of our God;

    To comfort all who mourn,

To grant those who mourn in Zion,

Giving them a garland instead of ashes,

The oil of gladness instead of mourning,

The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting.

So they will be called oaks of righteousness,

The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.

    Isaiah 61:1-3

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,

Because He anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor

He has me to proclaim release to the captives,

And recovery of sight to the blind,

To set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.

    Discovery

the action or process of discovering or being discovered.

So many people walk through life not truly understanding who they are and why they even exist. I have come to recognize that it is because they do not know their Creator, let alone who He has created them to be. Personally, I’ve spent a lot of time and energy searching for purpose and meaning through superficial means. I’ve looked to people, financial gain and position to satisfy the hunger I had for feeling whole. I lacked confidence in who and why I was created to be. In turn, I lacked the motivation and vision required to invest in myself by setting goals and successfully moving towards completing those goals. Completion is something that I have always struggled with. I would start a thing but completing it was such a battle. I suffered from so much self-doubt, and to be honest I still do. But I am making it a practice to push against negative thoughts and false perceptions I found myself entertaining. I am making the conscious choice to reclaim my identity and walk forward in the confidence God has granted me in Him.

Throughout my life a lot of time has been spent undervaluing who I am: The woman that God created, uniquely and individually filled with great purpose. I have compared myself to others, masked behind what others deemed acceptable, body shamed myself, and accepted treatment from others that reflected my lack of self-esteem. I’ve spent countless moments talking myself out of the best that God had to offer, all because I hadn’t fully understood, embraced and received who God has said that I am. In writing this, I am breaking from the curse and lies that have deceived me for far too long! Through every declaration I take full claim to everything that has been promised to be by the Father. In turn, as you read this, you will partake in the same deliverance. It is also your time to break free from the shackle of lies. Hallelujah!

    The Great: I AM…

In order for you to understand who you are, it is essential that you have understanding of the One who created you. In the book of Exodus, the story of Moses can be found. He was a man chosen by God to free God’s chosen and set apart people (Israelites) and eventually led them to the Promise Land. In the third chapter of Exodus, Moses is first confronted by the Presence of the Lord who wills to send him back to Egypt (House of Bondage) to lead His chosen people out of bondage saying:

I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. The Lord said, "I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings. So I have come down to deliver them from the power of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. Now, behold, the cry of the sons of Israel has come to Me; furthermore, I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them.

Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt."

    Exodus 3:7-10

God identified Himself as the God or Elohim (Hebrew for God) of His lineage and forefathers before Moses. He expressed that He recognized the suffering of His people and that He was concerned enough to will to bring them out of it. He declared that He prepared a place for them that was full of space and provision for them to flourish and be restored. This is Moses’ response to God’s commission to him:

Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?

    Exodus 3:11

Here it is clear that Moses questioned his own identity and purpose even after God specifically revealed it to him. He was called by God to be a Deliverer of God’s people. He doubted, yet God affirmed him by telling him that He would be with him as a sign:

Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain.

    Exodus 3:12

How many times have you questioned who you are, why you are created, or how God could use you? Like Moses, God is with you and He desires that you walk boldly and confidently in who you were called by Him to be. You have been sent to the Earth on assignment from God. In revealing your Identity, He will reveal Himself to you as well. Through the revelation of Identity, you will begin to align yourself with God’s will for your life and you will begin to walk in it, knowing that He goes with you.

After God assures Moses, he asks God how he should identify and refer to Him to the Israelite he is called to bring into the Promised Land. The Lord responds:

‘I AM WHO I AM.’ And He said, ‘Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.

    Exodus 3:14

    I AM – YHWH

In my study of what I Am means, I learned that in the Hebrew אֶֽהְיֶ֖ה ehyeh (‘ey-yeh) or ehweh (‘eh-weh), developed over time, means, I WILL/I Am. In the exchange between Moses and God, God first stated that I AM WHO I AM which in Hebrew is EHWEH asher EHWEH. He then says for Moses to address Him as YAHWEH which is translated as HE WILL BE/HE IS" How awesome?! God just IS and will ALWAYS BE. There is no beginning or end to His being. He is sovereign and ever-present. He is the Almighty and completely self-sufficient. (Revelations 1:8).

    be

    to exist or live

I believe it to be so powerful that the name that God identified Himself as translates to I Am. The fact that He led with I AM and answered with I AM left no room for question of His sovereignty or ability. He exists, lives and wills according to no other being. I am, as we know through the English language, is a declarative expression, stated in pure confidence. God didn’t present Himself in a manner of being overwhelmed by the Israelites circumstance, but He was sure of His ability and He presented Himself boldly being Moses. Whatever descriptors that are used to describe Yahweh, He is those things. He is Deliverer. He is Creator. He is Holy. He is Justice. He is Mighty. He is Love. He is Mercy. He is a Good Father. He is Healer. He is…

With this understanding, we must be mindful
