Pray the Word - Bob McDaniel

    McDaniel

    Who is Mankind?

God said in Genesis 1:26, Let us make (a) man in our (b) image (KJV). The word (a) man is the Hebrew word Adam (Strongs 120 mankind, any man). The word (b) image is the Hebrew word tselem, which means a representation of the real thing(Aaron Pick’s Dictionary of Old Testament Words). The Word says you are created as a representation of God. Since we are created as a representation, it is important that we know as much as possible about God so we can understand how we are created to operate.

God is a relational God, and we were made in His image. Relationships are important to Him. We were designed and created with the need to relate, but were not born with the ability to relate. We have to be taught how to relate.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6, KJV).

"So God created man (Strongs 120 mankind) in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them" (Genesis 1:27, KJV).

    Your Words Are Powerful

Because we are made in God’s image, our words are powerful. One of the first things we can learn about the power of our words comes from Genesis, the first book of the Bible. What do we discover that is consistent about God from this account of creation?

    Genesis 1:3 – Then God said …

    Genesis 1:6 – Then God said …

    Genesis 1:9 – Then God said …

    Genesis 1:11 – Then God said …

    Genesis 1:14 – Then God said …

    Genesis 1:20 – Then God said …

    Genesis 1:24 – Then God said …

    Genesis 1:26 – Then God said …

In the very first chapter of God’s Word, we have eight occurrences of the phrase, God said (NKJV).

When God said, big things happened. God said, Let there be light, and 186,282 miles per second of light sprang forth and has continued to travel at that speed since creation. Scientists tell us that our universe is expanding at near the speed of light. That means that every second we have billions of cubic miles of new universe. God’s words are indeed powerful.

If you were created in God’s image, whether male or female, doesn’t that mean your words are powerful?
