Part I: Foundation and Order

for Marriage

I. Do we want to know the Truth?

A. "And you shall KNOW the truth and the truth shall set (MAKE) you free" (John 8:32).

B. "Sanctify [cleanse] them by Your truth. Your word is truth" (John 17:17).

C. "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12).

D. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children (Hosea 4:6).

1. Correct knowledge and information can stop us from perishing.

E. What are traditions of man? The handing down of beliefs, opinions, customs, stories, information, and instructions from generation to generation.

Where man’s traditions exist, contrary to the Truth, it will make God’s Word ineffective and produce defeat.

"And in vain they worship me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men—the washing of pitchers and cups: and many other such like things you do. He said to them, ‘All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition… making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do’" (Mark 7:7–9,13).

F. God watches over His Word to perform it.

Then the LORD said to me, ‘You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word’ (Jeremiah 1:12).

G. God’s Word will not return void.

"So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it" (Isaiah 55:11).

H. Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, In her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who retain her. The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens; By His knowledge the depths were broken up, And clouds drop down the dew. My son, let them not depart from your eyes— Keep sound wisdom and discretion; So they will be life to your soul And grace to your neck. Then you will walk safely in your way, And your foot will not stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; For the LORD will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught. Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so.

II. Who wants to destroy Marriages?

A. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly (John 10:10).

B. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8).

C. We wrestle not against flesh and blood.

This generation has so many things that can affect marriage. Evil abounds everywhere. The Church of Jesus Christ has the answers and must be Telling and Teaching the Truth.
