About this ebook

Megan:

When he rescued me from that horrible fire, I basically fell in love at first sight.

I've never done it before, and I'm picky when it comes to guys. He's everything I've ever wanted, but why would he be interested in me? He could get so much better. A guy who looks like him wouldn't be into a heavy girl like me...

But the way he looks at me makes me think otherwise. He gazes at me like he wants me so badly - like he can't take his eyes off me. He treats me so kindly, like a gentleman. I want to be with him forever.

David:

She makes my icy heart melt.

I thought I'd spend my life alone, but now I've met the woman of my dreams, and I want to make her mine. She's everything I've ever wanted and then some, and I'm going to treat her like the princess she is.

I never believed in love at first sight, but then I met Megan, and everything changed.

Firefighter's Curvy Gift (A Small Town Age Gap Alpha BBW First Time Romance) - Amber Branley

    Chapter One – Megan

I wake up to the horrible feeling of coughing my lungs out. I’m sensitive to smoke, and what I’m smelling now definitely isn’t my neighbor smoking on her balcony.

It’s fire. And it’s close to me. Dangerously close.

I jump out of bed and continue to choke on the smoke as I try to catch my breath. It’s a lost cause. I can’t breathe in this room. My entire bedroom is filled with a thick, black plume of smoke. I’m going to die now. It hits me suddenly, as I feel like I’m choking on my last breath.

Twenty-one years old and this is it. My life is already about to be over...

I fall to the ground. Then I hear the sound of a door being kicked down – or hacked down with an axe. The sound of footsteps running through the living room. I see the silhouette of a large man appear in my doorway. He rushes towards me, grabs me, hoists me up over his shoulder like I weigh nothing, and then hauls me out of the room in a matter of seconds, into the cold winter night. I can barely hold my eyes open. I’m drifting off...

He lays me on the moist grass and then starts CPR. I cough like crazy and before he starts mouth to mouth, I say, What happened? What happened? Oh my god...

You okay? He says in a breathy voice. Thank god...

And thank YOU, is all I can think, but I don’t have the strength to get the words out. My throat feels raw from all the coughing I just did, and I’m still working to catch my breath. I glance over at apartment building. It’s engulfed in flames, and I hope so desperately that all my neighbors got out in time.

Let’s get you to a hospital, he says, They’ll run some checks. You’re going to be just fine, dear.

The next few hours are a blur. I guess because I’m exhausted and overwhelmed. I had almost passed out from the smoke, after all. I would have been dead if not for that big, burly firefighter who burst into my apartment and saved my life. I guess he helped put me in the back of an ambulance and they rode me to the hospital while he stayed behind with his men and put out the fire.

Ms. Reese, are you able to understand me? A man in a white coat asks. I nod my head. He’s clearly the doctor and he holds a clipboard.

Yes, I can hear you fine.

Good. Your lungs checked out just fine. But all the same, if you’d been in that building a couple minutes more, you may not have made it out alive. You’re a very fortunate woman.

Yes, I’m thankful... A firefighter came in and rescued me.

Hey there, a deep voice suddenly appears from the doorway. There he stands, tall and broad shouldered, holding his helmet in one hand and wiping the sweat from his soot-covered brow with the other. He smiles at me as he walks
