    CHAPTER 1

Hey, it’s time to wake up. I whisper in my husband’s ear.

His brown messy hair tickles my chin as I give a soft kiss on top of his nose. He yawns and slowly puts his arm around me and pulls the blanket that lay on the edge of the bed and draws it towards us covering us both.

Can we lie on bed for the rest of the day?, he pleads. Lazy Pants! I am in a hotel room with my husband in Paris.

I hear siren, ambulance siren ringing in my ear.

I have the habit of not letting my husband let go off me in the morning. His embrace in the morning makes me feel like the luckiest woman on earth. I unwillingly get up from bed and walk in the balcony. We are in a deluxe room of Hotel Mansart, Paris which is near to the famous street of Place Vendôme, it gives me the opportunity to walk and explore the famous designer stores (of course including Louis Vuitton), art galleries potteries stores and jewellery shops.

I hear the siren again, this time louder.

My husband tugs my hair behind my ear and kisses me as we walk towards our balcony overlooking a jewellery shop, Buccelati. We stand there enjoying each other’s silent.

He smiles mischievously at me and tells me that he had bought a necklace from Buccelati as our anniversary gift for me. He surreptitiously went out while I was taking shower yesterday.

My man is full of surprise.

He grabs my hand and drags me back to the bed again. He sits on the bed while he sets me on top of his lap. I fall over him and grab his shoulder for support. His brown hair tickling my ears and cheeks as he kisses my neck.

    Here, turn around.

I turn towards the full length mirror that is placed a foot away from our bed. I see his body bending slowly towards the bed table, his hand rummages through the drawer and he withdraws a box from the drawer and he places it on my lap.

    Open it.

I smile and quickly untie the ribbon off from the box and throw it on the pile of garbage next to our bed. We have been acting like the snobbiest couple around lately not caring about being anything which resulted in a messy room and that too in only one day.

I placed the cover on top of his bed without looking at the present.

The ambulance siren has just stopped. I hear people’s voice from distance. I feel like I am in a chaotic place.

Wait don’t look., he traces a finger on my chin and forces me to look in to his eyes. Look in the mirror.

    Okay.

I look in the mirror as he moves his hand towards the box, he takes out a white silvery thing out of the box, it glimmers on the light. My vision starts to get blurry, maybe because of the sun light coming through the balcony which is blinding my vision.

I look in to the mirror and see his smile broaden as he lay a knife across my neck.

I see him digging the knife deep in to my skin as my vision starts to get poorer.

No, what did I do? I cry loudly and struggle against his tight grasp of my arm.

My voice seems unrecognizable to me as it quivers. I ultimately give up struggling as he slays a deep long cut across my neck.

I gather all my courage to look in to the mirror again, to look in to the bloody sight, but the woman I am looking at is unrecognizable.

It’s not me. She is a blond woman.

Then instantly she is gone and I see myself pushing him away from me while his head is his tilted towards me and the knife he is holding is digging deeper in my skin.

The woman must be my imagination since I can’t take the shock of my husband’s betrayal anymore. I shudder as I gulp down the reality of what is just happening, my husband has just slashed my neck with a knife. Blood dripping from my throat and splattering all over my white night gown. How can my husband do this on our anniversary?

I hear people saying Put an oxygen mask now.

He pushes me towards the floor and starts kicking me, his face gets blurrier with every second, no it’s my vision
