    Acknowledgements

The ideas presented in this book are powerful and have been tried and tested through personal experiences and testimonies of those I have taught. While I am confident they will be effective for you as well, it is important to keep in mind that the best results require your dedicated effort and focus. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my father for instilling in me a never-give-up mentality, and to the spiritual leaders and mentors in my life who have guided me on this journey, including Swami Sivananda, Shri Dhananjay, Swami Chidananda Saraswati, Swami Vivekananda, Dada Bhagwan, Bhakti Vikasa Swami, and Srila Prabhupada. I am also thankful to the reader who is embarking on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth, as this has the potential to make a positive impact on the world. By embracing your authentic self and spreading love, you inspire others to do the same.

I would also like to thank the Brahmacharya (Semen Retention) practitioners who have contributed to this book through their transcripts, blogs, forums, and talks. While these sources have been edited for clarity and brevity, they may not be primary. The phrasing in this book may have been altered over time, so I encourage readers to verify the information with primary sources before using it as a reference. To fully understand and benefit from the practice of Brahmacharya, also known as Semen Retention, or Seed Retention, it is recommended to read this book multiple times. Research has shown that people only retain 7-10% of what they read on the first time, so repeating the material is crucial to mastering the subject. I have personally read this book over five times and have gained new insights each time. Those who struggle to apply the concepts often do not fully grasp the material, which is why I repeat key ideas throughout the book. It is worth noting that modern terms such as , Semen Retention, Seed Retention, and Sperm Retention all refer to the ancient practice of Brahmacharya. This is a personal decision and lifestyle choice that should be kept private and not advertised or discussed with those who are not ready or able to understand it. It is recommended to stick to the original ancient concept of Brahmacharya for clarity and simplicity. This practice may not be suitable for everyone and is only appealing to those who are advanced on their spiritual journey.

Please keep in mind that all content in this book is taken out of context, and interpretations may vary over time. I kindly request your generosity in interpretation and understanding that the original intent may differ from your personal interpretation. Any errors in this book are solely my responsibility, and all brilliance should be attributed to the great spiritual leaders who have taught me so much. If you are unable to find the solution you seek in this book, feel free to reach out to me at thepranaman@gmail.com.

Also, it is important to note that the modern internet slang used in this book, such as Seed Retention, and Sperm Retention, all refer to the ancient practice of Brahmacharya. Throughout the book, the author uses these terms interchangeably to refer to Brahmacharya, and while the terminology may differ, these words ultimately refer to the same concept and should not cause any confusion for the reader.

    Glossary of Terms

The Almighty: There is one ultimate deity in the universe, referred to as Brahman by Hindus, Christ by Christians, and Allah by Muslims. All religions are paths that lead to the same ultimate destination, and sincere love and devotion to God, regardless of religious affiliation, is received by the Almighty Lord and Universal Creator.

All religions are valid and authentic, and when practiced correctly, lead to the supreme being. The different names and forms given to God, such as Rama, Krishna, Vishnu, Shiva, Christ, or Allah, are simply various ways in which individuals address the supreme entity. Sages who preach religion aim to free humanity from suffering and bring it closer to the divine, and a person who is true to themselves becomes virtuous, regardless of their religion.

Brahmacharya is a direct route to the Almighty. The pain and suffering that keeps us from the divine stem from our past sins and ignorance. Celibacy in thought, word, and deed is crucial in unraveling these sins and attaining peace, kindness, love, affection, strength, and bliss. With just a few months of dedicated practice, anyone can experience the unwinding of pain and the journey towards divinity and perfection.

Semen Retention: Beneficial Practice or Overhyped Trend?

The practice of Brahmacharya, also known as Semen Retention, Seed Retention, or Sperm Retention, has been subject to controversy regarding its impact on health in both the short and long term. Some argue that refraining from sexual activity can lead to health problems or diseases, but this belief is not entirely accurate.

In reality, practicing Brahmacharya with the right intentions and attitude can actually cure diseases. It involves living a life centered on deep love and trust for God, and transmuting the life force into something higher, rather than simply suppressing sexual desire.

However, it's important to note that simply abstaining from sexual activity is not enough. If the mind continues to dwell on sexual thoughts, it can cause negative effects on the body, mind, and psyche, potentially leading to disease.

The sex need that many people experience is actually a result of recreational sexuality, which differs from the procreative nature of sexual energy. Just as a car won't move forward if the handbrake is on, focusing our energies in opposing directions can cause damage and hinder progress.

Instead, Brahmacharya requires investing all of our heart and soul into a single direction with the trust and innocence of a child. By doing so, we can reach a state beyond decay and even gain control over death.

While the benefits of semen retention may be debated, it is clear that practicing Brahmacharya with the right intentions and attitude can have a positive impact on overall health and well-being.

The practice of Brahmacharya involves not just abstaining from sexual activity, but also engaging in adequate physical activity, intellectual work, and God-meditation. When done correctly, it can lead to the conservation and transmutation of semen into Ojas, or Divine Energy, which can help clear out diseases of the body and mind, promoting excellent health and strength.

Contrary to popular belief, the incidence of disease is not a result of practicing Brahmacharya. Rather, diseases are caused by negative past karma. Brahmacharya, on the other hand, negates past karma and guides individuals towards self-realization.

    Semen Retention Effect

He who loses semen loses everything.— PRANA MAN

Brahmacharya also known as Semen retention, is a way of life that offers benefits to anyone regardless of their age, caste, creed, or marital status. If one practices Brahmacharya in thought, word, and deed for even a single day, they reap the rewards of that day's virtue and purity, no matter how small. The benefits increase with time if one maintains the state of purity for a week, weeks, months, or even years.

However, a person who is used to a life of sexuality cannot suddenly adopt unbroken Brahmacharya. It is a divine and special way of life that requires a complete transformation of the individual's physical, mental, and karmic elements. The grace of God and honest efforts are necessary to reach a stage where one can continuously maintain this state and enjoy immense benefits and power. Moreover, the body must be purified and toxins eliminated to make the mind and body fit for unbroken celibacy, which requires time, effort, and consistent practice. During the initial stages of Brahmacharya, brief periods of illness may occur as embedded toxins from past karma surface for purification. However, the Brahmachari must persevere with determination to overcome these challenges and achieve the reward of unbroken Brahmacharya. It is advisable to gradually increase the duration of Brahmacharya to achieve this state.

It is a well-known fact that alcoholism and tobacco consumption are harmful to health. However, does this mean that all individuals who smoke or drink become weak, degenerated, and weakened within a few weeks or months? No. Do the negative effects of tobacco and alcohol consumption appear clearly in all individuals soon after they start consuming? No. Some may become weaker in a few months, some in a few years, while others may develop lung or liver problems after a few decades. Some individuals may not show any negative symptoms at all for half their life, only to be diagnosed with mouth and lung cancer or a damaged liver/kidney due to excessive smoking or alcoholism in the later years of their life.

Similarly, the practice of Brahmacharya and its effects run on a parallel note. The purpose of sexual activity is procreation and not recreation. If a man limits his sexual activity to fathering children and conserves/transmutes the reserve reproductive fluid through sublimation, it would help build the finest bone, muscle, nerves, and brain, leading to an impressive intellect, memory, discriminative ability, and overall well-being.

However, if sexual activity is used for recreation/entertainment, the downside outweighs the pleasure by an incomparable margin. The sexual act shatters the entire nervous system. It creates great excitement and agitation and an intensity of feeling that leaves the person exhausted afterward. The release of dopamine during orgasm, which is responsible for the high experienced during climax, fades soon after the act is complete. To experience this high again, a man must repeat the sexual act. Constant indulgence in sexual activity for the sake of orgasmic pleasure causes an enormous loss of Prana (vital life energy) leading to weakness and disease over time. In the course of time, a man may become addicted to the pleasure derived from orgasm but will soon find himself unable to perform a sexual activity as he did before due to the enormous loss of vital energy, which the body cannot regenerate through food.

Havelock Ellis, in his Studies in the Psychology of Sex, quotes Dr. F. B. Robinson's observations as recorded in the New York State Medical Journal. Robinson notes that when a stallion mates with a mare for the first time, after short, vigorous coition, he is apt to fall into a dead faint, which Robinson traces to brain anemia produced in the process. He also mentions a case of a mare falling dead immediately after. Young bulls frequently faint away after the first connection with a cow, and it is common to observe a young bull so exhausted from seminal loss that he slips away to a quiet corner and lies down for a couple of hours.

Dr. Melville Keith, M.D., writes in his work The Marriage Law:

"We tell you that every time you release semen, you lose the food and the best portion of the (blood) corpuscles, because every particle of semen that is ejected will be replaced by more taken from the blood. This should convince you that when you ejaculate the semen that should stay in the body and become reabsorbed to form the oil for the joints, new muscles, and brain material, as well as every other part of the body, you are really destroying or throwing away your life.

"You eject the substance of the synovial fluid (a thick liquid between your joints). You send forth, to gratify a moment's passion, the very material of which the brain is made. This fact becomes clear when you consider that all this semen is the material from which all these substances are made and supplied, and when the semen is ejected, you have selected the best part of the body to go out and become a useless inert mass that can never be restored to you under any circumstances. It is lost and gone. Then, with the semen out of the body, the sexual penalty comes apace. The penalty for this loss of semen is far-reaching and concealed from the body of people of the present day. But I tell you, when you see paralysis, palsy, apoplexy, rheumatism, brain softening, bent shoulders, and haggard face, and when you see a young old man and a dried-up young lady, in these cases and in dozens of others, you may set it down that there have been sexual losses and a waste of bodily substance from the sexual orgasm.

You will see the punishment all around you, and there is no place you may go where you will not see the fruits of this sexual indulgence in excess. The punishment may be denied, and all these diseases may be attributed to every other cause under the sun, but you will be right in laying it at the proper place, which is the sexual drain that has sapped the blood corpuscles of the victim before you. I assure you, nothing can be so draining as this sexual excess, and any sexual mating is excess, provided it is not for procreation. The punishment for the disobedience of this law is shortened lives and an increased amount of diseases that are everywhere around us. The connection between the sexual orgasm and the epileptic attack has been noted.

The sudden withdrawal of calcium produced by the seminal discharge biochemically produces the tetany-like symptoms of the orgasm, which is a consequence of calcium deficiency. This condition is so similar to the epileptic attack that usually follows it in those who are constitutionally predisposed. According to Acton, the sexual orgasm resembles the epileptic attack both in its phenomena and effects. The mental hebetude and physical prostration following the discharge of nerve force characteristic of an epileptic attack also follow the sexual orgasm. The latter profoundly affects the whole nervous system with such intensity that Acton says only mature individuals can bear infrequent acts of intercourse without more or less injury for procreation. In young persons, all vital powers should be conserved for growth and development.
