You Can Rule Where You Are - Festus Ndukwe

YOU CAN RULE WHERE YOU ARE

    By Festus Ndukwe

    Dedicated...

To the memory of Chiedozie Chigbu

The first time that our path crossed with Chiedozie Chigbu was in the home of Sam & Roli Kputu many years ago in Owerri, Nigeria. Sam was the Zonal & Mobilization Officer for Calvary Ministries in the South East, Nigeria. Together with my wife, Felicia, we boarded a vehicle to Aba.

With little effort, Chiedozie stood up, prayed and began to preach. He was not shouting yet his words had penetrating effect. It was with power as he kept the hearts of the commuters. In no time, he made a call and led many of them to the Lord. At the end, he did not collect any offering like most motor park evangelists do; rather he collected their souls and offered them as offering to the Lord. It was later I learnt that was his way of life-winning souls to the Lord! Since that time, our hearts got knitted together

Chiedozie would visit from Benue State he was working as a missionary with Mission House and spent time with my family in Jos. We had rich times of fellowship together. He radiated so much love and care.

Chiedozie so much loved the Lord and desired to bring all his family members close to Him. It was in the process of rushing for home in Eastern Nigeria to bring his old father to a CAPRO end of the year meeting in Jos that he met his death in a ghastly motor accident.

This brother, a spiritual giant and a great evangelist, never married but left behind spiritual children. It is to this great memory that this book is dedicated to. God be greatly praised!

    Acknowledgments

Anna John Yakubu spent time reading through and making useful corrections. She is a co-labourer in the ministry of publishing and in the battle for truth.

Also, Jennifer Bowers. She has an eye for details. Her correction helped strengthen the thrust of this book. And finally, my wife, Felicia Ndukwe, who is a silent labourer in the war room of prayer.

    Author’s Preface

In the secular world, a man can only rule when he asserts himself or employs physical force where he is working. In God’s kingdom, a man that rules is not the one that asserts himself or employs physical force but one that submits to God’s authority as he passes through several spiritual dealings.

Most times, it is a meek man that rules, not a strong man. It is a meek or broken man that rules, not alone but with God, and that is why he exerts power wherever he finds himself. It is such a man that can rule over forces contrary to Christ in his environment. It takes passing through many things in the hands of God before a man can have power with God and with men.

‘Rule’ in this context has to do with bringing the rule of heaven to bear in an environment without quarelling or fighting or causing commotion. It is a life that distabilizes the agents of darkness; a life that scatters and shatters the works of evil without struggling. It is a life that is light. Every other thing around him may be darkness yet his light subdues them. It is the poverty of this in the Church and in the market place that necessitated the writing of this book.

How do we get this ‘life’ and live it out and draw sinners to God; and this ‘light’ that we might shine it and cause darkness to flee; and this ‘force’ that we may exert it and make the wicked to bow? This is what this book is all about.

This book is a sequel to "You Don’t Know What You Have." I encourage you to read it before reading, "You Can Rule Where You Are." The thread of thoughts that runs through the two books will help you understand God’s purpose for you in a society filled with evil and contradictions.

Again, I implore you to pray as you read through. This is not the best of times for the Church. God is looking for iron benders, to bring order in our land. May you be one of them!

    Introduction

From history, the goal of the Gospel has always been to raise men and women that will rule for God anywhere they are found- in the Media, Judiciary, Legislature, Executive, Civil Service, Colleges and Universities, Non-governmental agencies and the private sector. The goal is to raise rods- people who will rule with a rod of iron, and dash Satan and unrighteousness to pieces as the vessels of a potter, Rev.2:27.

    Men of Tensile Strength

When the Psalmist said in Psalm 110:1-2, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit down at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies, this is what the Holy Spirit meant, to have men that carry His strength- men He will send out from the Church to rule for Him wherever they are.

Again, when Jesus gave one of the terms and conditions of discipleship in Luke 14:25-33, it was with this goal in mind. Jesus needed men to build a tower of strength, that is, God’s house ( 28-30); and to execute war against the Satanic kingdom ( 31,32}. The kind of men that God will use to build a house that will be ‘beautiful in every situation and joy of the whole earth’ are men raised after the image of Christ, and as a result will build with the right material which is Christ, 1Cor.3:10-15. The kind of men that can war against the kingdom of Satan and establish the kingdom of God in the market place and people groups unreached with the Gospel, are men that are stripped of sin, flesh, Self and the world. Men stripped of sin, flesh, Self and the world are rods. They are dangerous to the kingdom of darkness.

In the previous passage in Luke, Jesus wants to be sure that those He has secured in His hands will be able to build God’s Church and fight His battles. The process of getting such people is not easy. By their commitment and allegiance to their Master, Christ, and love for Him, they have taken a decision to "hate their fathers, mothers, wives, children, brothers and sisters, and their own lives, Lk.14: 26.

These are men who bear the cross saying, ‘I am dead, from henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus,’ Lk.14:27; Gal.2:20; 6:17. In bearing the cross,
