About this ebook

There are many women today, and in days past, who are called of God to minister. They have a burning desire to serve God and answer that call, but they have been hindered by the traditions of men and wrong interpretations of the scripture. Mark 7:13 “making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.”

Releasing Women to Minister has been written to correct wrong interpretations and clarify thorny passages in the Bible concerning whether or not women should preach or teach. This book forever answers the question, “Can a woman minister?” Clears the way for women all over the world to fulfill the call of God placed on their lives.

Even though women have been denied ministry in our churches for centuries, they have continued to teach Sunday school and serve in the nursery and worked on the mission fields. Jesus has received their ministry. Will you? Let us not perpetuate the awful result of the fall of man by suppressing women, whether domestically, socially or in the church, but let us release them through Christ. Truly the seed of the woman did crush the head of Satan on the cross of Calvary and has set us free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2)

Dr. Hazel Hill is an ordained minister as well as a best-selling author and has ministered alongside her husband Dr. George Hill in pastoring, planting churches, broadcasting television programs, authoring books and overseeing missions all around the world. Dr. Hazel has been at the forefront of the things the Lord has done in the past few decades. One thing is for sure - no grass will ever grow under Dr. Hazel's feet. Her tenacity, strength and vision have fueled an ever-evolving movement. Through all the years of trial and triumph, her prophetic accuracy has strategically brought direction to the Victory Worldwide Movement and to the thousands of lives and ministries joined to it.

    Forward

I have always believed in women in ministry. They have been ordained of God to preach, teach, pray for the sick or do anything God has called them to do. Dr. Daisy Washburn Osborn, my dearly beloved wife, whom I miss more that words can say, has touched the lives of more people than any other woman leader of our day. She was my life companion and associate minister in evangelism, in seventy-three nations for more that a half century.

Daisy is at home with Jesus, but my encouragement to women like Hazel Hill continues steadfastly, that she would go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, teaching women their value in God’s eyes and their importance in carrying out His great commission. All human persons are created in God’s image and therefore have infinite value and limitless potential for good, once they have the opportunity to understand God’s love plan for their lives.

I gave my words of encouragement to Hazel Hill, who has ministered around the world in many nations for the past twenty years. I am pleased to commend this book, Releasing Women to Minister, because it helps women find their place in ministry. This book by Hazel Hill will continue to uphold the ministry of women like my Daisy until Jesus comes for us all.- Dr. T.L. Osborn

    Chapter One:

    The Woman Question

What about women in the church? Should they keep silent? What was God’s original plan for women? Do they share equally with their male counterparts? Do they have a place in ministry? If so, what part do they have in proclaiming the gospel? These and many other questions have plagued the church throughout history. The position of women in ministry has been bandied and debated throughout the ages, finding support on both sides of the issue.

I agree with A.K. Curtis, Ph. D., publisher of Christian History, a magazine dealing on the history of women, when he states, We know that we are tiptoeing through an emotionally charges minefield; there is sure to be something to displease everyone. Feminists may be mad at us for not pushing women’s ordination. More traditional readers may see too much of a feminist agenda.¹ Personally I have no harsh words for those who oppose, nor an axe to grind, but only truth to proclaim."

At the outset of this book, I will say emphatically that any woman who feels the call of God on her life for the five-fold ministry (spoken of in Ephesians 4:12) or a call to public ministry needs to know who she is
