Introduction
Do you find yourself skipping meals or eating whatever’s fast and convenient just because you’re too busy? You’re not the only one. Eating healthily may be something we all aim for, but in today’s fast-paced world, it can be rather difficult to maintain. In addition to lacking the time to prepare healthy meals, it’s also difficult to find the time to go grocery shopping—and let’s not forget the cost, either. However, a healthy diet is essential to our well-being and we really should be trying to incorporate it into our daily routines. Not only do we need energy to fuel our activities throughout the day, but we also need to ensure that our bodies receive the proper nutrients required to function optimally and prevent chronic illnesses (World Health Organization, 2021). We can’t rely on fast food and coffee because it’s easier. We need to consider what is best.
Furthermore, if you’re a parent, you also have to think about what is best for your child. Kids can be picky eaters, and if you combine this with a busy schedule, quick and easy once again trumps healthy in most cases. Unfortunately, if a child is not exposed to a nutritious diet from a young age, it will impact their growth, cognitive development, and relationship with food as they get older. This is why it is important for parents to make healthy food available in their homes and encourage healthier eating habits. Although most people already know this to some extent, the struggle to maintain healthy eating habits is very real. However, it is not impossible—you just need to know how to make a healthy diet fit into your lifestyle. Many people make the mistake of implementing healthy eating without tailoring it to their lifestyles. If you are a busy individual, this will never work because life will always get in the way. However, if you arm yourself with more knowledge about healthy food, how to make nutritious meals on a budget, and how to make it work for a busy schedule, you will be able to easily maintain a healthy diet.
I have been through this and have witnessed the struggles of those closest to me. This is why I felt that it was necessary to write this book—to show others that it can be done if you have the right mindset and strategies in place. I have no doubt that people want to feel healthier, be more energetic, and look better. They just don’t know how to get it done in a way that can be sustained long term. This book will provide strategies and tips that will help you overcome the challenges associated with trying to eat healthy with a busy schedule. It will help you make healthier food choices that suit your budget, lifestyle, and taste buds—and help you live longer so you and your loved ones have more time together.
