    Introduction

Hello, and welcome to Optimize Your Sleep Fitness, a course from Scribd Coach. My name is Louisa Nicola, and in this course, we'll discuss the national sleep deprivation emergency. Yes, I said emergency, and once we go over the statistics, you'll understand why this issue is of great importance.

Many of us don't understand the benefits of a good night's sleep. In fact, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the recommendations health officials made to help individuals and families protect themselves from infection was to get more sleep. That's right, along with washing your hands regularly and maintaining a distance of 6 feet from others, more sleep was another preventative lifestyle modification.

For basketball players, the additional sleep improved their shooting accuracy, free throw percentages increased by 9%, and three-point field goal percentages increased by 9.2%. That was all with just an extra ten hours of sleep per week.

Now, just imagine what that could mean for you. As I said before, we currently have a sleep
