About this ebook

This is the tenth volume of poetry that I have written that deals with life from a Christian perspective as we deal with life everyday.  Some of the poems are from Biblical accounts of different people and ome from things I have dealt with in life or heard about from others.

    Mayberry Days

    Looking back to long ago,

In the time of Mayberry days,

    We thought life was slow,

And more gentle in its ways.

    We remember Barney Fife,

    Not some Viet Nam ridge,

    Or prejudice running rife,

    On Edmond Pettus bridge.

We see Andy as always fair,

    Forgetting Watts and Chicago,

    With burning and rioting there,

Where so much hatred did show.

Is the world today really worse,

    Or just more  openly diverse?

    The Work Awaits

Do I come to the work,

    That I find at hand,

    Or duty do I shirk,

    Not taking a stand?

    The fields are white,

    As we have been told,

Will I do what is right,

And in the work be bold?

There is a life of ease,

    That world calls me to,

As I do as I please,

    Will the work fall through?

Will I go work in the field,

    Or to the world yield?
