    Living For Today

    When I was eighteen,

    So much life lay ahead,

    New things to be seen,

    Nothing for me to dread.

    When I turned forty-five,

    Life more than half past,

    Some plans didn’t survive,

    Many dreams didn't last.

    Now at seventy-two,

    Life quickly running out,

    With things left to do,

    As I shuffle slowly about

Yet each step of the way,

Life could only be lived today.

    Independence Eve

    What will tomorrow bring,

    When we declare ourselves free

As to hope we will cling,

That they will let us be.

It will be a long night,

As by our hope we are bound,

    Standing ready to fight,

    Until our freedom is found.

    We have the declaration,

To be signed boldly by all,

For the birth of a Nation,

    As we answer freedom's call.

    So for tomorrow we wait,

    When freedom we will celebrate.
