About this ebook
What better way to use your experiences in life than to create a masterpiece! Experiences encountered that help mold us into the people we have become. This book of poetry is created from candid expressions of me growing up in a world that at times accepts you for who you are, and at the same time can reject you for who you are. It's all about survival. You find ways to make it through. Some of us get through situations by using music. Some just sit quietly in a corner, and then some use words or poetry like I did. There's something about writing it down that can make things appear different, or at least to help you think it through. Any situation is a thought process to uncover a solution or help create a different outcome. These Random Thoughts are reflections of all that.

Random Thoughts - Pamela Valentine
I Am
Proud to be, proud to say
With our heads held high;
I am a Link, a voice that’s echoed
By many far and wide.
Our organization, more than you think, yes,
We support our communities,
We support our kids.
Enriching, sustaining, helping our own.
A foundation two women built,
A reality, now full blown.
Continuing to grow,
Continuing to lead.
What we are made of,
Helping us and others succeed.
Succeed in our survival
Our heritage to preserve
We as one, all the same
The way it is deserved.
Extraordinary women from all walks of life
Coming together in friendship and love;
With common goals in mind,
And a service to provide in spite of.
We continue to fight
In our own quiet way
With a force so fierce to see
How things can change when we commit
How strong we all can be.
How Can I?
The road not taken
An easy way out
The road less taken
A road that leaves no doubt.
How do I choose
Why do I care?
Try making the best choice
By asking through prayer.
The road not taken
A lesson to learn
But we have to make a decision
On which way we must turn.
My Dream
I have a dream,
A dream like Martin,
But people still look at
The color of my skin.
If they would only give us a chance,
Just a chance to see
The goodness that we have within.
I have a dream,
A dream like Martin
That one day we could really be seen
For who we really, really are,
So it’s no longer just a dream.
I have a dream,
A dream like Martin.
Individuality, content of character,
Not too much to ask.
But it’s up to you, my friend,
Who must be willing
To accept such a task.
I have a dream,
A dream like Martin.
Take time to know us, take time to see
We’re not every evil, not every sin.
See us for who we are,
Not for the ignorance that limits one.
Please take time to look within.
I have a dream,
A dream like Martin
That the world needs to change.
Yes, we’ve seen a little progress,
Yet, there’s still work to be done.
Can you imagine what progress could be made
If we only could live peacefully as one?
Resting in Jesus
She quietly slipped into this world,
That precious, precious baby girl.
She left this world the very same way,
Her request to go quietly is what they say.
But how can we grieve?
How can we mourn?
Our friend who left us,
So broken and torn.
No time at all to say goodbye,
No time for tears, no time to cry.
At rest, and at peace at last,
All hurt and pain has finally passed.
While I Live
Give me my flowers while I live,
As I cannot enjoy their beauty
When I’m dead and gone,
Nor the sweet fragrance that they give.
Just their mere presence
Can turn any bad day around.
Or bring a smile that’s been gone,
Gone, for quite a long while.
No, flowers, they don’t last long,
But they do last long enough.
As everyone’s beauty fades,
It’s the memories that count.
Our Tribute
Everyone leaves an imprint,
On this world in their own way,
By things you’ve said or things you’ve done,
Impressions that will stay.
Like every year, here we are,
Paying tribute to you all.
To those who died some time ago,
When they answered the master’s call.
You will never be forgotten,
Never feel that fear.
That is why we pay our tributes,
To all of you each year.
That Precious Child
She had stars in her eyes,
That little lost child,
Hiding all the hurt and pain.
What was really going on?
Does anyone even know her name?
She’s looking for something, someone!
Can someone help with what she needs?
Or will we continue to ignore,
All her physical and verbal pleas?
Where can she go, where can she turn,
To get the help she needs?
No, she’s not yours, but you still can be,
Someone who’ll plant a seed.
Keeping It Real
Relationships unravel.
Some, one thread at a time.
Gone before you know it,
Some without reason or rhyme.
Did you not see it coming?
Did you not see the signs?
Everyone else knew all about it,
And knew it was just a matter of time.
But what if
