This book is dedicated to all those on earth who are standing up for truth! This is not easy to do in a world where there is tremendous pressure to conform to the culture, while one is at the same time seeking to live only for God’s will and for His glory in all things! May all such be mindful of the following:

O Lord, who may abide in Your tent? Who may dwell on Your holy hill? He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness, and speaks truth in his heart.

    INTRODUCTION

God is allowing His servant to have a few commentaries published, which is the product of over forty-three years of study and experience. It is my hope that the present one, God’s Prophetic Word Through Micah – which is expository in nature (that is, explained in detail) – will prove to be heartwarming and practical to help God’s people live in a way that is a personal blessing and which brings glory to God in these last days of the present age!

There are three things that one should be aware of at the outset. The first is that the Biblical text that God gave will be included as part of the text of this book, so that the reader will not have to turn to the Bible to read that text. It will appear in italics. Then secondly, each chapter has been broken into smaller sections, which will begin with an italicized brief explanation supplied as a help of what is covered in that section. And thirdly, at times comments are supplied by the author, which will be in brackets in the text of God’s word, as an additional help to the reader.

Then we are to also note that there is an Addenda at the back of the book with seven sections. In Addendum A, there is a brief outline of the four ages of time, for any reading the book who might not be familiar with this information. In Addendum B, there is a brief outline of the two comings from Heaven to earth in time of God’s Son, The Lord Jesus Christ. In Addendum C, we have an exposition of Daniel 9:24-27; then at Addendum D, we have an exposition of Revelation 21:9 to Revelation 22:5. Then in Addendum E, we have an exposition of God’s resurrection program in time. Then at Addendum F we have Chosen of God for a purpose, which is an exposition of God’s doctrine of election. And then at Addendum G, we have a presentation of the gospel, which is the good news that God has given in His word regarding His Son, The Lord Jesus Christ, for any reader who might not yet have this vital personal relationship with God, through faith in His Son.

What should also be mentioned before closing this Introduction, because we are all somewhat curious by nature, is that after completing 21 years of formal education and then spending almost 28 years working in Project Engineering and Management in the Corporate offices of two large utilities, God called His servant as a non-denominational evangelist in early 1999, and then sent him out over two thousand miles, away from family and friends, to the place of service God assigned, which is where His servant has been, and is still serving Him, as evangelist, author, and counselor. The author is a widower with three adopted children, all now married with a family of their own.

This book, and all the author’s books, are available for purchase in print format or as an eBook on all major distribution channels. Since the author’s two websites are no longer active, one may access the books, and places to purchase, by typing Roger Henri Trepanier, books in any search engine.

And now my prayer is that God will richly bless you as you read this book, and greatly minister to every need in your life, as only God can! To Him be all praise, honor, and glory, with thanksgiving, both now and forevermore! Amen.

    MICAH CHAPTER ONE

    Verses 1 to 16

Micah 1:1-7, God foretells the eventual fall of Samaria and Jerusalem!

As God begins His prophetic word through Micah, we see from Micah 1:1-7 that He foretells the eventual destruction of both Samaria and Jerusalem, as we there now read, [1] The word of the Lord which came to Micah of Moresheth in the days of Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem. [2] Hear, O peoples, all of you; listen, O earth and all it contains, and let the Lord God be a witness against you, The Lord from His holy temple. [3] For behold, the Lord is coming forth from His place. He will come down and tread on the high places of the earth. [4] The mountains will melt under Him and the valleys will be split, like wax before the fire, like water poured down a steep place. [5] All this is for the rebellion of Jacob and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the rebellion of Jacob? Is it not Samaria? What is the high place of Judah? Is it not Jerusalem? [6] For I will make Samaria a heap of ruins in the open country, planting places for a vineyard. I will pour her stones down into the valley and will lay bare her foundations. [7] All of her idols will be smashed, all of her earnings will be burned with fire and all of her images I will make desolate, for she collected them from a harlot's earnings, and to the earnings of a harlot they will return.

God identifies for us at verse 1:1 the person He chose to give this prophetic word through, who was Micah of Moresheth. God has to say Micah of Moresheth here for there are more than one Micah mentioned in Scripture. Moresheth here was a place twenty miles southwest of Jerusalem.

The only other reference to Micah of Moresheth in God’s word is at Jeremiah 26:18, where we read, Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, 'Thus the Lord of hosts has said, Zion will be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem will become ruins, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest. '

Since Jeremiah 26:18 is a quote from Micah 3:12, then this means that at least from that point onward, Micah was prophesying in the days of king Hezekiah of Judah, for at verse 1:1 we are told that Micah was prophesying in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah (noting 2 Kings 15:32-38; 2 Kings 16:1-20; 2 Kings 18:1-20).

This also then means that Micah 1 and 2 at the least were more than likely said during the days of king Jotham and Ahaz of Judah. Jotham and Ahaz were said to reign 16 years, while Hezekiah reigned 29 years. Ahaz was Jotham’s son, while Hezekiah was Ahaz’s son. It is also important to keep in mind as we proceed that Jotham and Hezekiah were believers, while Ahaz was not If one reads the brief accounts of these kings, as referenced above, one can grasp the spiritual condition of those in Israel and Judah at this time.

We then also see from verse 1:1 that all God said through Micah was said concerning Samaria and Jerusalem. What is important to know and keep in mind here is that from after the time of king Solomon, we have the nation of Israel being divided into two kingdoms, which will remain divided until after the second stage of the second coming of God’s Son during the fourth age of time. Those two kingdoms that the nation of Israel was divided into was the Southern kingdom of Judah, consisting of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin, with its capital at Jerusalem, which was in Judah; while the other kingdom was the Northern kingdom of Israel, which consisted of the remaining ten tribes, with its capital being at Samaria, which was in Ephraim.

In having focused on the nation of Israel at verse 1:1, God then turns His attention to all the nations of the earth, including Israel, at verse 1:2, and what He here wants all nations on earth to know is that The Lord God is a witness against you. In other words, The Son as Lord here and The Father as God has something against all nations, not just the nation of Israel, now seen divided into two kingdoms.

What is most likely in view here is the fact that the nation of Israel was but a representative nation in God’s sight, which meant that what this one nation does during the second age of time, any other nation on earth would have done likewise, had it been chosen as a representative nation in its place! What this means then is that at the outset here God wants all nations on earth to know that they likewise share in the sins of the nation of Israel, which God is about to bring up in the rest of God’s prophetic word through Micah!

Then at the end of verse 1:2, God mentions that the Lord, in reference to The Father indwelling His Son, is overlooking all of what takes place on earth in time from His holy temple. It is important to keep in mind that whenever God refers to His temple, whether on earth or in Heaven, it always speaks of where He is present!

What is also important to keep in mind is that whatever temple that God allows on earth, as for example the temple built by king Solomon, it is always only a representation of God’s temple in Heaven, which is why He always gives the plan for what is to be on earth and then requires that those who build it, build in accordance with His plan (noting Exodus 25:9; 26:30; 1 Chronicles 28:10-19; Hebrews 8:4,5)!

We then see from verse 1:3 that God now most likely speaks of the time of the end of the last seven years left of the second age of time, when His Son, indwelt by His Father as Lord here, will now return to earth at the second stage of His second coming, to deal with the antichrist and the nations of the earth gathered for battle in Israel, as we see at Revelation 21:11-21, and also noting Isaiah 26:21 and especially Jeremiah 25:15-33!

The word Lord at verse 1:3 is in the Hebrew original always a reference to God The Father, as always indwelling His Son, which is always by The Holy Spirit. We must keep in mind that there is only one God, Who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in time. This means that wherever The Father is, The Son and The Holy Spirit are also; then where The Son is, The Father also is by The Holy Spirit; and where The Holy Spirit is, The Father and The Son are also! God The Father is always invisible, while His Son is always the visible expression of God in both time and eternity, noting Colossians 1:15; 1 Timothy 6:15,16; Hebrews 1:3.

When God says at verse 1:3, in reference to His Son, He will come down and tread on the high places of the earth, He likely refers to what the prophet Zechariah was led of God to foretell regarding this same event in what we read at Zechariah 14:4, In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south.

Verse 1:3 has God’s Son treading on the high places of the earth, likely because the same Hebrew word used for earth is rendered as earth at Amos 4:13, where we read, For behold, He who forms mountains and creates the wind and declares to man what are His thoughts, He who makes dawn into darkness and treads on the high places of the earth, The Lord God of hosts is His name.

However, at Micah 1:3 here, it is better to see this as being the land of Israel only, for that is the only spot on earth that God’s Son is seen touching at the second stage of His second coming from Heaven to earth, for after this, He will reign as King over the earth from the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down from Heaven to just above the nation of Israel, as we see at Revelation 21:10, which will be for the duration of the fourth age of time, which will be for one thousand years!

If there are any readers who are not familiar with the fact that God has divided time into four ages, or if one is not familiar with the two separate comings of God’s Son in time, then please take a moment and read Addendum A and B at the back of the book before resuming here. And if one is not familiar with God’s teaching on there being seven years left to run its course in the second age of time, please turn to Addendum C and there read an exposition of Daniel 9:24-27. And if one is not familiar with God’s teaching regarding the holy city, Jerusalem, of Revelation 21:10, then please turn to Addendum D and read the exposition of Revelation 21:9 to Revelation 22:5, before resuming here.

God further describes for us at verse 1:4 what will happen when His Son returns to earth again, as we see at Revelation 21:11-16. What is important to grasp from what we read here is that the fourth age of time begins as soon as God’s Son enters the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down from Heaven, as we see at Revelation 21:10, and the earth itself will then be completely be changed, noting Zechariah 14:9,10; Psalm 102:25,26.

As we then see from verse 1:5, God gives the reason for the judgment of God that will one day fall on the inhabitants of the earth, saying here that it is due to the rebellion of Jacob (in reference here to the Northern kingdom of Israel). and due to the sins of the house of Israel (in reference here to the Southern kingdom of Judah). This is made clear by what God goes on to say here at verse 1:5, for what took place at Samaria, as the capital of the Northern kingdom of Israel, was indeed a rebellion against God, noting 2 Kings 17:6-18,21-23; and what took place at Jerusalem, as the high place of Judah and as also the capital of the Southern kingdom of Judah, exposed for all to see their sins, noting 2 Kings 17:19,20!

Then as we see from verses 1:6,7, God discloses what will happen to Samaria, as the capital of the Northern kingdom of Israel, speaking here of the time when God’s judgment will come against it, so that it will no longer be inhabited, only good as a place to plant a vineyard. God will also in that same time of judgment plow under all her idols. The reference to harlot’s earnings here is of course in regards to money derived from the various images and idols being worshipped there. As to when God’s judgment did
