Thoughts, Hopes and Prayers - Elliot Eli
Life
A man without a plan
––––––––
Uncertain, my life has become.
Frustration is my companion at all times.
Depression is closer to me than any friend of mine.
I have no handle over the life I claim is mine.
How frustrating it is to have no plan.
How depressing it is to be shoved through life,
For my destiny to be found wherever the road winds!
While I worship the men who forged their own paths!
Like a piece of paper, I’m blown wherever the wind wishes.
For the sake of security, I dare not take any risks.
My dreams take the back seat as I commit to others’ dreams.
My mind is slowly being convinced that for others’ plans I exist.
Oh, what stress possesses a man without a plan!
Rest is nowhere in his world to be found.
Just for a few dollars he toils the whole month,
Yet his pay check can never be enough.
If only he erased the lies that shape his mind-set
And believe that for a reason he came to existence.
What joy and zeal would fill his universe!
Who knows what invention
he would contribute to the human race!
Bad dreams

My mind would be rejuvenated.
Sleep used to hear my cry
And bless me with fantasies.
While reality was tough,
Good dreams encompassed me.
When my hope was down,
In my dreams, God prospered me.
Adulthood is hard
Good dreams hate the older me.
Where I used to find my escape
Has turned to a place of despair.
It’s to me, a well-deserved break,
That I
