About this ebook
Raw Feelings is about a writer from Vanderbijlpark, South Africa, who does not easily conform to societal expectations. Expressing feelings about mental health, grief, and all kinds of relationships in his life. He provides a best of both worlds in terms of pain, love, hope, joy and more.
When you read the book, do not just focus on the writer's life experiences. Think about that member of the family, that friend, that relative or someone you know who suffers from a mental health illness. Try to see the world through their eyes.
This book was not just written to comfort those who have mental health challenges and relate to them, it was more written for the caregivers. Those who are sometimes not thought of, those who see the pain and have to deal with the ups and downs of caring for someone who lives with a psychiatric condition.
Raw Feelings will blow you away in terms of understanding these ones from the patient's point of view, not just the professionals.
In any case, enjoy the read and most of all, inspire others to do the same!
Delile I. Ndumo
Delile comes from a small town in Bophelong, Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, South Africa. He grew up playing marbles and soccer with his friends and enjoyed the company of his 3 brothers. As he grew older he discovered that he has a talent in writing. He began writing poetry in 2008, but not as intensely as from 2014. 2 years after his diagnosis of Bipolar Affective Disorder, he began to shift his focus more on making others know about the condition and to advocate for how Mental-Health patients should be treated and viewed by the society. His efforts were not readily seen until he had an idea of compiling his poetry collections into a book. The type of poetry is not typical and it is more of a flow of thoughts thus he calls his book "floetry", They style of writing is also different at it does not conform to what poetry is known for. He writes about abstract, logical and existential matters but also puts some heavy emotions into the writings. Delile feels that men in society shy away from talking about mental health and "die" quietly inside because they do not take the necessary steps to express how they feel. Raw Feels - reveals much of his personality through poetry and allows readers to interpret what they readily feel while they read. It's not just about the success stories that people look out for from men suffering from mental health conditions but Delile tackles the day-to-day interactions. When you read Raw Feelings, try to imagine someone in the family, a relative or a friend who lives with a mental health illness. See life through their eyes and try to be more understanding. Do not just focus on Delile's life experiences. Think more about how this may affect you personally. Above all else, inspire others to do the same!

Raw Feelings
Poetry by Delile I. Ndumo
On the Other Side
Life is like a blue sky filled with clouds It never looks the same every day Ever changing, always moving
On the other side, we have no choice But to adapt, to change, to move on.
Granted, we are human
We naturally want to help others but first,
We need to think, plan, and execute boundaries This may be a hard pill to swallow – literally.
Literally, a hard pill to swallow
Since setting boundaries often affect those closest to us This is where the mind needs to reinvent itself even more
Abraham Maslow said it well: "If you deliberately plan to be less than
What you are capable of being, then... you’ll be unhappy for the rest of your life.
You will be evading your own capacities, your own possibilities"
Therefore, be assertive, make your own thoughts known.
Do not let anyone walk over you
Do not let anyone walk over your intelligence Do not let anyone walk over your capabilities
Take action in the way you live your life
On the other side Do not limit yourself
Do not limit your strengths and abilities. What’s on the other side?
Pressure. That’s for sure.
Expectations, high expectations. That’s for sure. Shock – maybe. We don’t know.
The reality is, we don’t know what’s on the other side. Whether good or bad.
However, we have learnt how to cope.
We have learnt to be mindful and reflect on ourselves. On the other side, we will have the strength,
We will have the courage to set boundaries. Granted, it’s risky – fearful that we may lose relationships.
If so, well, so be it.
On the other side
We will continuously
