Dedication…
In manus Dei… In God’s hands…
Whatever the outcome—it is God’s will.
And so… I dedicate this book
to all who were part of my travels,
to my husband, Carel,
my mentor and my best friend,
and to my beloved, growing
family who I love dearly.
I offer my life to Jesus, my Lord and Savior,
As my Journey to Him continues…
Mary

ALICIA’S COURAGE
I salute you, friend, for your courage!
You nobly take up the hard yoke,
never complaining or losing hope,
you inspire me beyond measure.
Each time I call and hear your voice,
filled with joy or soberly somber.
I always know when the news is good
and I feel your pain when it is not.
The tears fall, you’re often tired, and there
are days when you have no strength.
Still, you hide your feelings bravely
behind a smile and a sense of duty.
I’m sure you think about your kids,
loving and wanting the best for them,
wondering how their lives will be
if you’re no longer able to care.
These grievous thoughts torment me,
as I ask God to lighten this cross.
I pray and hope He will listen closely,
to my prayer for your remission.
INCARCERATED (Based on a true Story)
Can this be happening to me? Imprisonment?
I’m living a nightmare! It is simply incredulous!
My freedoms can’t be taken away, or can they?
And yet, here I am, in this hellhole, this jail.
When and how did such a violation occur?
I’ve done nothing wrong—I am innocent!!!
But still incredibly, here I am… isolated,
numbered, tagged, incarcerated in this cell.
What liar has chained me to this
