Journey in His Shadow: A poetic Journey of Faith
()
About this ebook
Journey in His Shadow is inspirational poetry that has been inspired over years. Ellen truly believes that even before she came to know and understand Christ’s amazing hope and salvation, she was living beneath His shadow. So many times she was rescued and brought to her senses by the spirit who knew, one day, she would be His. This book is for the lonely and those seeking a true path. We are all journeying in His shadow, and His is awaiting our union with Him.

Journey in His Shadow - Ellen Rile Colagiacomo
In the Shadow of Your Journey
In the shadow of Your journey,
Let me walk each day,
For I am ill-equipped here,
And oft feel lost, astray.
Desiring to be near You,
Feeling Your Peace within,
Burdens can be put aside.
The weight of my own sin.
For the longer I reside here,
The more my heart does yearn,
To feel the place of shelters, of the perfect Home.
The promise of Your return.
My Shepherd
My wool is white
and thick and deep.
Beside Your Feet,
I closely keep.
You lead me on to sweet, green grass.
You help me raging rivers pass.
I know that if I lag or stray,
My hope, my safety, my life, I’ll pay.
The Journey is unknown to me,
But matters not, for mine is Thee.
A Broken Shard
A broken shard
called out Your name.
You found me and loved me all the same.
Not only broken, but dirty too.
Broken, filthy was all I knew.
Broken is alone, unwanted, lost
even to self.
The life I longed for, beyond all cost!
So lying there on barren ground,
no joy or hope is ever found.
Then the word given to me…
Told me that as Yours, I’d be free!
Free to know You’re all I need.
Vision to see Your cross each morn.
With believing friends, I’m no longer torn.
No longer a piece of broken glass,
a whole new story,
part of the Mosaic and Your glory!
A Prayer
Holy Shepherd.
Born of man.
What have I to give?
My heart’s desire is to follow You.
But forces deep within me
Aren’t always wise or even kind.
Pull my selfish heart aside; bad memories refine.
We’re fractured mirrors, our images blurred.
Until we breathe in Your Sacred Word.
Your splendor so great!
My goodness so small!
My eyes so blind, I don’t oft see my sin at all!
My compass set the path ordained…
The journey’s end I seek.
With salty tears I give You
As I falter slow and weak
Whatever words of comfort and kindness
I may ever show,
Please give me strength to offer, gratitude to grow.
As time eclipses this fitful life, Father, let me be
A purer soul when I began—
And ever closer, my God, to Thee.
Always with Me
You are always with me.
Why am I so full of self?
Fall and fail in so many ways.
In distracted anxiety
For many days.
Calming myself is a full-time job!
Yet, my vision sees Your imprint,
Your presence every day.
With nothing by chance,
My life You enhance.
Do You know that I love and need every hour?
Of course You do,
My source of power.
I truly grieve my weakness and know,
So slowly do I grow.
Unworthiness in my heart,
Please, Father, forgive me!
For You calm my soul.
Never depart!
Beacon of the Soul
Jesus, beacon of the soul,
Knows the exact minute. Our clouded minds
He’ll finally breach!
The Word will penetrate all, and truth will be revealed.
Truth that will transform how your heart and mind feel…
Our thoughts, desires, no longer the same.
Look for Him; search earnestly.
Cry out His name!
Peace and Assurance lie ahead
Where no rest in life is ever truly found.
His beloved are Heaven-Bound.
Burdened Time
When time feels burdened, wasted, low,
To another place I go…
A thick, grassy hill with flocks for sheep
Needing to feel the sun’s warm rays.
Longing to be part of a quiet day,
Alone and wandering, in thought, I graze.
Below, a swirling sea of blue.
Swaying trees join trilling birds,
Praising their Lord with words unheard.
Can my life own any worth at all?
I know I can comfort someone alone,
Because God had
