About this ebook

After almost dying and being in the ICU for thirty-seven days, ten of them in a coma, fifty days total in the hospital, I started writing a journal. I couldnt talk well and had to go to speech therapy. I couldnt walk and went to physical therapy. I couldnt write and had to retrain myself by writing in my journal. My muscles in my body felt useless, and I had to start over. I was determined to get back 100 percent especially after I found out that the doctors wanted to pull the plug on me several times.

As I started writing, I couldnt read a word, but I kept at it, determined to win my battle. I practiced over and over to get better. I started to write down what was in my heart. It was a way to recuperate. I was supposed to die, but God wanted me to live for some reason. As I wrote in my journals, my experiences stated coming out as poems. I started sharing my poems to hurting people. Many doors opened as I shared my experiences. I hope you will enjoy my healing adventure through my poetry.

Butch Dias

Butch started writing poems after spending 10 days in a coma. He was in ICU for 37 days, 10 of them in a coma. He was released after 50 days. The doctors told his family to pull the plug several times. During his recovery time, he started writing his feelings in a journal. Many of these writings came out as poems. Butch started writing about life and how he felt. During the month of October, he watched all the support for breast cancer awareness. One day during prayer he wrote his first poem about cancer. He wanted to give back to the community. He wanted to encourage others that were battling his terrible disease. Butch is the author of “Inspiration for Tough Times” and “Christmas Poems from the Heart.” All books published by X-libris Publishing Company. Praying for you and hope you will be encouraged by my books. Butch now resides in Royal Palm Beach, Florida.

Inspiration for Tough Times - Butch Dias

    A Beacon of Hope

I want to be a lighthouse,

So I can share my light with you.

I want to be a bright light,

To pierce the darkness in two.

To be a beacon, to share God’s love,

The light of Him so true.

A beacon of hope, that will shine,

    God’s love through and through.

The message of salvation is clear to see,

When we look at the light of the cross.

The blood that was shed, is our flicker of hope,

When we know that all was a loss.

To those in need, a beacon of hope,

Will come, when they hear His call.

Our Savior, our hope, the light of the world,

Was Jesus, who gave it His all.

So take to your feet, the gospel of peace,

And daily tell of the Good News.

That Jesus died for the sins of the world,

And brought salvation so we can’t lose.

    Go

    He tells us to go,

    But why do we stay.

    Making excuses,

    For another day.

    We speak about the Word,

    We tell them of fate.

    We tell them of riches,

    But witness, we wait.

    Our people are in darkness,

    Bound in chains.

    But we won’t tell them,

    Of the king who reigns.

    The message is easy,

    Salvation is free.

    Jesus died on the cross,

Because He loved you and me.

    So let us go,

To the world far and near.

    To share the message,

It has been waiting to hear.

    Second Chance

At one point I thought I was in heaven above,

God’s peace was overwhelming you see.

It was my family that I thought of,

Home is where I wanted to be.

As I laid there strapped to the gurney,

Fear gripped, as the pain wouldn’t let me be.

The ambulance ride was a journey,

A white light was all I could see.

    Many memories flooded my head,

Was my life getting cut short?

Was I soon going to be dead?

Was heaven going to be my next port?

I then called to God on high,

Lord, please come to rescue me.

I know it’s not time to say good bye,

To all my friends and family.

By grace You gave me a second chance,

    The reason I don’t understand.

The devil can’t have his victory dance,

Life is all part of God’s plan.

    Don’t Quit!

Standing strong in the midst of trials,

Will sometimes steal all you hold.

You have to know the devils wiles,

Because life can be very cold.

But don’t you quit, for you will win,

If you’re standing day by day.

So keep your eyes fixed only on
