Psalms for the Soul - Betty Maxwell

    Another Brand New Day

    This morning I awoke

    To another brand new day.

    I looked upward to Heaven

And this is what I prayed.

"O, Father please watch over me

    And guide my steps today.

Please let me be a glowing light

    To everyone I pray.

    Prepare my path before me

And light my way I pray,

Lest I should cause to stumble

    Some other soul today.

    Anoint me fresh this morning

Your work that I may see,

And place deep down within my heart

The words I am to speak.

Let everything I say or do

    Bring honor to your name.

And may my works be good as gold,

    Your glory to proclaim."

Psalm 31:3, O Lord, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive that I should not go down to the pit.

    Footsteps

    May God guide your footsteps

    Safely through your day.

May His glory shine upon your path

    So your feet never stray.

May your life be filled with happiness

And love flow from your heart.

May God hold you safe within His arms

And keep you from all harm.

As you walk the path before you

May your thoughts remain on Him.

    Ever drawing closer to Him

    Safe within His sheltered wings.

Clinging to the precious word of God

As through your day you trod.

Keep your eyes toward the heavens above

And walk safely in His love.

Psalm 37:23, The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.

    Sunshine

    My Jesus is like sunshine

    That follows every storm,

‘Cause when the storm is over

He keeps you safe and warm.

His breath is like a gentle breeze

    On a quiet summers day,

    So soothing and so peaceful

    And gentle in its way.

His voice is like the thunder

That rings out loud and clear,

It tells me of His wonder

    And that He’s always near.

And when I see a fluffy cloud

    Go quietly floating by,

    I always will remember

I’m the apple of God’s eye.

Psalm 113:3, From the rising of the sun to its going down the Lord’s name is to be praised.

    His Love

I love my God with all my heart

Each day I seek His face.

I am His child, adopted by Him

And saved by His amazing grace.

You, too, can know my Father,

    His Son’s the only way

    To ever reach God’s heaven

    Where it’s eternal day.

No night will ever be there

    For Jesus is the light,

    And angels sing His praises

And lift His name on high.

    I’ve a mansion there He’s built me,

I’ll walk on streets of gold.

My treasures are laid up there

And I never will grow old.

    The sick and broken hearted

    There never more will be

And I will sing His praises

    Throughout eternity.

John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

    Rain

God sends us rain from up above

    Some people do not see,

It’s from this rain that all things grow

    And soon return to green.

    I cherish every single drop

That falls down from the sky,

For soon I know the sun will shine,

    The birds again will fly.

Each drop of rain reminds me

Of the tears one day were shed.

    The day our blessed Savior

    Was crucified and bled.

But then the Son did shine again

When from the grave He rose.

    That we might live eternal

Where death no more is known.

Psalm 147:7-8, Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praises on the harp to our God, who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow on the mountains.

    Patience

    Patience is a virtue

    I’ve often heard it said.

    To calmly wait for something

    Is really what I dread.

I’ve never been the one to wait

    When something needed done.

To just get up and do it

To me seems like more fun.

My patience gets so very thin

    When others hesitate.

    But lately
