About this ebook

The title speaks for itself. It is my little book of big praises for the Lord. When I start writing praises for God, I feel somewhat like King David, who wrote the book of Psalm. Writing to and about God is my passion. I pray that this small sample will help someone to experience the joy of the Lord as I do. It’s been categorized to make it easier for you to search for just what you need. Praise Him!

Cora McKinnon

Hi, y’all. Glad to meet you. I was born in a small community called T-Town in Pinehurst, North Carolina. The second oldest of four kids, I did a lot of babysitting and a lot of reading. Reading would take me places where my young mind could only dream of. I would read anything available, literally. I wrote my first poem at the tender age of fourteen after falling madly in love with a guy who was never home. I then discovered that I loved to write as much as I loved to read, and the rest, as they say, is history. My name is Cora Lee McKinnon. I am a single Christian lady who has been blessed with a son and five wonderful grandsons. I live in Moore County of North Carolina. I’ve lived in Northern Virginia; Marion, Virginia; and Pulaski, Virginia, but I love North Carolina. It is my home.

My Little Book of Big Praises - Cora McKinnon

    A Child of God

I am an heir of the King.

    I share His DNA.

There’s royal blood in my veins.

I don’t care what the devil says.

I am an heir of the King.

I’m the head and not the tail.

    He saved my long-lost soul;

I’m no longer bound for hell.

I am an heir of the King.

I’ve been washed in His blood.

I’ve been touched by His Spirit.

I’ve been redeemed by His love.

I am an heir of the King,

Counted a sheep in His flock.

    His Word pierced my soul.

Behold! I stand at the door and knock.

I am an heir of the King.

    My mansion waits for me.

Faith leads me to the door,

    And salvation is the key.

I am an heir of the King.

    With eagle’s wings I soar.

He’s wrapped me in His arms

    With His love forevermore.

And if children, then heirs, heirs

of God and joint heirs with Christ.

    —Romans 8:17

    A Moment with God

    A moment with God

    Doesn’t sound like much,

But to be in His presence,

    To receive just one touch.

    H is Spirit embraces me,

    Wraps me in His peace.

    It’s a place where my

    Heart longs to be.

    A moment with God

    Isn’t much, you say.

    But when I’m there,

    I learn to pray.

    H is Holy Spirit

    Shows me the way

    To honor my God

    From day to day.

    O ne moment with God

    Fills my whole day

    With a need to worship

    And a desire to praise.

H e said that one day

    Is like a thousand years.

    Each moment with Him

    Erases all my fears.

And that thou shouldest visit him

    every morning, and try him

    every moment?

    —Job 7:18

    Always Available

N o matter where your troubles take you,

To your knees or in a bottle,

Know that I am here for you.

I’m listening; give me a holler.

Y our pain may seem unbearable.

    Your tears might always fall.

I’ll comfort if you let Me.

I’m here if you just call.

    Y our world is falling apart;

Loved ones don’t seem to care.

No one loves you more than I.

Cry to Me; I’ll bend My ear.

Y our priorities are all mixed up,

    Your mind is a tumbleweed.

    I’ll settle your restless spirit.

    Just get on bended knee.

Y ou fight a winless battle

By doing things your own way.

Let My Holy Spirit lead you,

Fill you with the need to pray.

I will never leave or forsake you.

For you, I’ll always be near.

    I’m always available to you.

I love you, and I care.

For the Lord will not forsake His

people for His great name’s sake,

for it hath pleased the Lord to

    make you His people.

    —1 Samuel 12:22

    Are We Listening?

    G od’s voice comes softly

    as on a gentle breeze.

    In our silence He roars

at the absence of bended knee.

    T ake heed to instruction

    His Spirit imparts,

    filled with His love

    implanted in our hearts.

    N atural ears aren’t privy

    to what the Spirit conveys.

    Our spiritual ears rejoice

    in all that He says.

H e converses with us all

    in whom He abides, and

    with joy and thanksgiving,

    His words we do hide.

    H e gives us discernment

    so that we’re very clear

that it is He who speaks

    into our spiritual ears.

    Incline your ear, and come

    unto me; hear, and your

    soul shall
