    The school of freedom

The alarm rang. It’s 06:00 already. I woke up and sat still on my pink covered bed thinking quietly to myself, what is going to happen on my first day of secondary school. I looked around in my 'girly girl bedroom’, by the way I got that name from my younger sister Lisa. She says that pink is for mommy's girls unlike her as she is a brave lady, so unlike my pink room, hers is decorated with red that she assumes it represents 'danger’. While I was looking around, something caught my eyes; there on my light pink painted walls hung my primary school certificates. There were so many, maybe around thirty-five. I then got myself wondering if secondary was going to be easy and fun like primary. As I was still in wonderland I heard my mom shouting in the kitchen Amessa! Why don't you wake up because your alarm has rung or you want to be late on your first day to school? I didn’t answer, instead I looked at my watch again .It was 06:16 already. Does time really has to be that fast, like I just woke up. I jumped right out of the bed and went to take a shower, came back in about eleven minutes later, dressed my new maroon and white uniform which I thought looked really silly on my body. I brushed my curly dark brown hair and went to look myself in the mirror, I really thought I looked stupid and this uniform does not look good on people who are created to look like me. In case you are wondering how I look in real life let me fit you in. I am a tall girl with a chubby face who’s got a pointy nose that my dad says it reminds him of his twin sister and his late mother. I also have a little bit of dimples which resembles my mother’s side. When I finished dressing, I went downstairs for breakfast. I was eating my cereal quietly when mom asked, Is your sister awake yet? I didn't reply because of the cereal in my mouth so I just shook my head to say no. Mom really hates people who speak with food in their mouth and she once threw an orange at Lisa for that, not Lisa only but she threw a table spoon at me. See when you do something wrong in front of my mom she just hits you with whatever that is on her hand or near her at that time. So if you know that you might just figure out yourself what kind of a mother she is, but on my point of view she totally is a crazy freak and also a tough nut to crack. For my mom’s image, well she is an short lady who is dark in complexion and has short black hair, a chubby face and some dimples. Mom really doesn’t really like growing up; she still does things that I would personally say they are for teenagers, like listening to hip-hop music and going out on Friday night. It feels pretty strange but then again there is nothing I can do about it. When I try to talk to her about that she just says she wants to enjoy life while she still can, except for that I can safely say she is a good mother and fun person to hang out with. She takes us for games and shopping whenever she is available, plus she allows us to pick a movie of our choice when we go to the cinema. She finds fun extra mural activities for and for that I love her to the moon and back. There was silence in the room until I finished eating my cereal. I went to sink and dumped my bowl. At last, mom broke the silence, So how is my angel feeling on her very first day of school? I looked at her and then said, horrified. Don’t even try to say that because you haven’t even seen the school. But mom it is Monday today, you know exactly how I feel about Mondays and besides I don’t even know what to expect from that school She held my hand and said, Oh honey, I know you hate Mondays, but please promise me that you are going to try and enjoy this one, she pleaded. Is dad awake yet? I asked trying to change the topic. She answered my question that dad has left for work and went back to the school topic again. Amessa please behave today and besides you know you are my angel and I only want the best for you. She smiled and came closer to me. I shrieked my face and told her that I don't like that school and to add on that, I don't know anything about that school besides the fact that it's a free multi-racial school.
