About this ebook

In this book, I have tried very hard to write from the heart. My heart has been eternally gripped by the awesome power of the cross for it was Jesus who made the greatest sacrifice for the sake of humanity. While working on this book, I lost my seven-year-old godson to a rare malady. From a broken heart, I penned three poems in memory of this very special young man who displayed remarkable courage under such adverse circumstances. I was deeply touched by his family's pain. In all that pain, the cross spoke loudly and meaningfully to our hearts. The commitment of this young mother to her son's well-being during this painful ordeal moved me beyond words. She was held up by the mighty hand of God. I am hoping that certain poems will bring solace to all those who have lost a loved one. Because of Christ's encounter with the cross, we are gifted with interminable possibilities. I am able to look beyond my circumstances and experience a higher level of spiritual awakening. This has led me to a place where I spend more time just marveling at the beauty all around us. I am acquiring a deeper appreciation for the earth and its long-term existence. I feel that we all need to exercise more responsible stewardship of God's creation. I am hoping that this book will serve as a constant reminder to all those who have undergone painful experiences that the cross that holds and releases my life's greatest mystery is the same cross that can give your life its greatest victory.

    Each precious birth

    of a newborn baby,

    is a miracle,

    God alone can fully comprehend

    because he fashioned the world

and purposed the multiple processes thereof.

    He even knows if,

    and when, they might end.

    The first cry,

    sounds painful and loud but

to the parents it brings sweet relief

and makes us all jubilant and oh so proud.

To the world you scream: "I am here,

    I will not be ignored."

You came imbued with a godly plan

and in you we see and learn

    that we should and can

be the very best of ourselves.

    The hope you bring,

    is the one thing

    we all so desperately need,

to brave the uncertainty of tomorrow

and inoculate the heart from the ills

    of earth’s sorrow.

You are the hope that ignites a fresh start.

The hope that lights a propitious path.

You are the hope I dare not ignore.

You are the cherubic joy we have lost to our pain.

Your eyes tell me that this joyous hope

    has always been here,

We have forgotten just how much

    and how to care.
