About this ebook

In the fast-moving pace of the world in which we now live, oftentimes we find ourselves overwhelmed with troubles, trials, sorrow, and grief. A feeling of desperation to overcome these situations can lead us in the wrong direction. We all have experienced or seen that the world can be a cold, cruel place, and if we are trying to make it on our own, we are destined to fail. The Light in the Dark is a heartfelt, soul-wrenching collection of poetry filled with hope, love, a promise for eternity sublime, and the poignancy of the pain and detrimental effects that can be inflicted by society. These poems touch on a vast array of emotions, situations and environmental conditions that can easily influence lives and their outcomes. Some are based on personal experiences, some on personal observations. Each poem, while bringing to point the harsh, dark realities we are all faced with, consistently brings to light the answer for all our conflicts and turmoil, all our debilitating pain, grief and sorrow, all our struggles and battles, all our triumphs and failures, yes, all our needs. Indeed, the answer to all things is Jesus Christ, our Lord, the Conqueror of conflict, counselor of confusion, Creator of all things, the Prince of Peace, the way-maker regardless of your situation.

The Light in the Dark - PJ McAdams

    A Glad Sad Day

The most anticipated and prophesied day of dawning is steadily approaching, stirring an excitement and feeling of wonder in the air.

The most triumphant day for some, that have made their peace with God, through Jesus, the glory now to share.

But for many, so sad and hopeless the situation they now face, all chance for redemption removed at His appearing.

Left behind with a desperation born of the knowledge that all that remain are lost and of the doom that is nearing.

How horrible a world void of God’s love, mercy, and grace, unimaginable the destitution of spirit that will blanket the face of the earth.

The complete desolation that will soon follow, some realizing what is coming but many still clueless, between them and God, how wide the berth.

To contemplate these things that will befall the hopeless throng, sadness easily besets us, aware of the end thereof.

Sadder still, the coming of Christ, will overshadow our sadness with the joy of transformation and the fulfillment of His love.

A glad day, a sad day, according to the condition of your soul, choosing Jesus or no, sealing your own fate.

Assurance of Heaven, paradise with everlasting joy or doomed to hell, a bottomless pit of unending torment and pain? Either way it’s coming soon, we don’t have long to wait.

    A Love Above

It’s unlike any love ever known by the human race.

An emotion so fulfilling, that it’s impossible to contain,

Not of this world, from another time, another place.

It fills with abundance every realm and domain.

It’s unlike any love that anyone could ever imagine.

Our minds are incapable of stretching that far.

Although we abide in and reap the benefits thereof,

We’ll never grasp the true essence like wishing on a falling star.

It’s unlike any love that ever has been or ever will be.

Unique in its purity and trueness unknown.

There’s no doubting how real as it warms the depths,

And brings forth an assurance that has never been shown.

It’s unlike any love in that it’s so deeply abiding.

There’s only one way that I could ever show,

It’s to tell you of Jesus, a Love above, divine in its origin.

How precious and pure this love I now know.

    Alzaware

What a blessing to enjoy the soundness of mind, priceless in its enrichment of all our lives.

Many never considering the alternatives that lurk and could pounce any moment taking us by surprise.

What a blessing the capacity to smile, laugh, love, and reminisce on those precious moments so dear to our hearts.

Not realizing for many as these abilities start to fade, a piece of their being wanes with each little part.

What a blessing the independence and freedom we enjoy as daily partaking in God’s abundance of life.

Do we seriously contemplate the devastating plight that has befallen the millions, leaving in its wake misery and strife?

What a blessing to maintain our firm cognitions, to understand with reason and logic, sustain attention, and be certain of what we see and hear.

Do we truly acknowledge the alarming rate at which this horror is growing, indeed by the minute, with no one immune, I fear?

What then if we ignore this obvious need for action and callously avert our eyes leaving the battle for others to fight?

Then it will continue to spread untethered and without discretion until each and every one is affected in some way and Hope is out of sight.

This horror, this demon that possesses the mind and wraps its wispy fingers around body and soul.

The cruel and dreaded disease that is known to all, yet not fully aware to all, is Alzheimer’s and it’s steadily increasing its deadly toll.

There is strength in numbers and moreover, strength in God, so let us all come together and bolster the sureness of that first survivor that is waiting in the wings.

No more complacency we must get this done, I plead for your support in this ongoing battle and the priceless Hope that it brings.

This cause so very close to my heart, my husband’s decline began at fifty six years old and that was eight years ago.

    How long he’ll
