DM Yates

I write fantasy/romance stories and new age/spiritual/fantasy/romance poetry. I'm also addicted to reading and am an obsessive crafter. I dance in the clouds where my stories take shape and then I weave them into imaginative and loving tales. Dream above the clouds and believe in yourself. I do and I believe in you.

I want to thank Joleene Naylor, Roger Lawrence, and Elizabeth Maginnis for their dedication in editing and supporting me in my effort to publish a book of my poetry. I would never have finished this project without their assistance.

I also thank all the many Poetry Groups that I've belonged to for the members' support and encouragement, along with a special thank you to April, who believed in my poetry.

This is a collection of simple poetry written by me to warm the hearts and souls of the readers.

My heart belongs to writing, but my soul belongs to poetry. DM Yates

    There should always be

the fun side of poetry. DM Yates

    I am who I Am

    I’m molded from three factors:

    energy, spirit, and flesh.

I can be wholly as one

when the triad me does mesh.

In human form I’ve a name.

I’m called Donna on this earth.

    Like my brothers and sisters,

    I emerged mortal at birth.

    I’m a Cancer—it fits me.

    I reside within a shell.

    In Chinese, I’m a tiger

    and my enemy I’ll fell.

    I’ve a father and a mom,

    I’m a twin, also a wife.

I’m a thinker, friend, and bard,

and I tell you, I love life.

    I walk a spiritual path,

    a child of the divine.

    I’ve lived for eternity

and towards Home I sometimes pine.

I’m a kin to all who live.

We are God’s daughters and sons.

    Whatever species you are,

I believe we are but one.

    When I connect to Heaven,

    I abide within His care.

I’m joined with the Other Side

    through meditation and prayer.

    I’m basically energy;

    ethereal, one might say.

    I’ve seen my essence sparkling

    in silver atoms arrayed.

My beliefs are strange to some,

    I exist outside the norm.

Now, please don’t try to change me.

It’s you I’ll aim to transform.

    LOVE

The earth sends her words of love in the winds. DM Yates

    Give me but a Rose

You ask what you can give to me

    to show your love divine.

Give me but a rose, my dear,

and this will be your sign.

    It must have grown
