Introduction
I love to look at the stars and try to imagine just how vast the cosmos is. Think of it, we only see a small percent of our own universe with our naked eyes. And that, in turn, is just a small part of the cosmos created by our Hea venly Father.
It amazes me to think that the God I worship and follow is so powerful and yet cares so much for me. I often look at the stars, especially when I take out the trash. And between you and me, that’s the secret to why I take out the trash late at night and not during the day. I take it at night just for the excuse to look at the stars and remind myself of how small I am in comparison to such a large universe. It takes my mind off of the things of this world like the daily stress, frustrations, uncertainties and worries.
Finding peace and purpose in our daily lives can be a struggle after watching the news, having a rough day at work, dealing with our kids who won’t listen to us, getting unwanted news about our health or for those especially that have been abused, persecuted and neglected.
That is the purpose of this book—to help you find peace in a world that is constantly trying to keep us from the joy, happiness, and fulfilment we so long for, to help us in finding those precious moments of peace when the world all around us seems is in chaos.
I don’t write this book as someone who has seen tragedy and persecution and abuse from the outside but from personal experience. I have lived through storms that have challenged my faith, my way of life, and my relationships with others.
In John 10:10, Jesus says, The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.
This is the battle we all struggle with each and every day. We struggle to find the life that Jesus has described, not just a life where we get through on a day-by-day basis but a fulfilling life full of purpose, hope, and joy.
When life goes crazy and makes no sense, it’s hard to understand how it’s part of God’s plan and how you can find joy in the midst of tragedy or disaster in your life. I have worked with many individuals who struggle with life and the many storms we endure daily. I have counseled individuals who have been traumatized and have seen or experienced various forms of tragedy in their lives.
As a Christian, I believe that the enemy is constantly attacking us and trying to keep us from finding peace in our lives. Whether you are a Christian, a person searching for faith, or you don’t believe in anything divine, the topics I will cover will help you to find that peace in the midst of the chaos and storms you go through. I will show you the promises found in biblical scriptures that speak of purpose, hope, and joy that have helped me and so many others.
