    Dedication

Iwould like to dedicate this entire book to the loving memory of my mother, Ines Hidalgo. She was the kindest person I’ve ever met in my life, and I’m not saying that because she was my mom. I’m saying it because she really was. She used to love kids, plants, pets, and everyone and everything in general. She never laid a hand on me. Kids always wanted to be around her and call her Grandma. She used to love that. Throughout her life, she had rabbits, cats, dogs, birds, and turtles, to mention a few.

She would feed a hungry person out of her own meal and never expect anything in return. My mom went to be with the Lord six years ago, but her actions on Earth, I’m sure, gave her a place in heaven.

    Special Thanks

First, I would like to thank God for putting the seed in my heart to write this book to encourage people to be good.

To my father for guiding me in my early years to be the man that I am now—thanks to those early lessons in my life.

To my brother, Mauricio, who has been like a second father to me.

To my cousin Mario for always being there for me, supporting me and staying in touch.

To my nieces Francis and Melanie for their unconditional love.

To my nephew Alexander; his wife, Gaby; and his beautiful children for always staying in touch and sending me love

To all my siblings, cousins, relatives, and friends for loving me the way I am.

To Page Publishing for believing in my dream and helping me make this book a reality.

    Chapter 1

    Smile More Often

Let me start by saying that I was never a naturally smiley person. Sometimes people asked me why I was mad, or even worse, they were too afraid to even ask me that question. This situation really used to get me frustrated because I did not know what was causing that way of thinking about me in people’s minds. I’ve seen some girls that naturally smile while they speak, and I really admire that. I guess that most of the time that’s because it’s the way they are, but I realized that I could copy that, and oh boy, that literally changed my life.

I had to literally train myself to smile more, and it was not easy in the beginning, but the rewards of doing it has giving me an opportunity to open new doors and create new friendships along the way.

Most of the people really appreciate a sincere smile. Some others don’t and would look at you like if you were crazy or something, but don’t worry,
