About this ebook

No longer will you walk around in defeat. No longer will you count yourself out of the promises of God because of your past. No longer will you accept the “final say” of others because you have lost your confidence that stems from a power spring source that cannot be contained by man. No longer will you allow your thought process to persuade you into believing that you have reached your full potential and that what you have to offer is no longer valuable. No, sir. No, ma’am. You still matter to God. You are still a part of His perfect plan. You shall not decay on the inside because of the heartbreak and pain the world has thrown on your shoulders, but you shall live to see the goodness of the Lord. The best part about this journey is that we may have had some brokenness, but I hear God speaking life with these words: “They say damaged, but I say not so!”

    My Inspiration

To my heartbeats, my joy, and my reason I work so hard. You are my glimpse of hope that shines through the toughest times in my life. You are the joy I feel when failure tries to cloud my thoughts. You are and always will be the heartbeats that ignite my will to keep pushing and striving for more because your smiles are more than a million words. I am so blessed to have been picked by God as your mother. It is because of you that Mommy can write this book and help others as I share my story of how I overcame struggles, pain, and storms. Mommy loves you, my babies.

    Acknowledgments

    To God:

You are indescribable and unmeasurable. You, Lord, are everything to me. I owe You my life, and I pray that this book brings You glory as I minister through this God-breathed devotional. It is because of You that I can be who You desire me to be. I am forever grateful that You selected me to tell the story of Your awesomeness.

    To my parents:

Mom, thank you for being the support I needed and for loving me. Dad, thank you for always praying for me and for loving me through my pain. Tasha, thank you for keeping it real and for making sure I kept a sound mind through it all.

    To my friends:

Wow, I could write an entire book about you all. You all are my support system and prayer partners, and my children are blessed to have so many aunties and uncles. Thank you for listening to me cry, laugh, and vent but most of all for directing me back to the Word.

    Introduction

Many people asked me how I could smile and encourage others despite the things I’ve been through. How can you move on in life with scars of past hurt, false love, lies, abuse, and a nasty divorce that resulted in a bad stroke at the age of thirty-two and still manage to not miss a beat with your children, church, and work? My answer is simple. I don’t have scars but testimonies of how God kept and protected me.
