    Caine - S.E. Isaac

    Chapter One

    Taylor

They say you can’t go back home. Everything is different than it was before and nothing will ever be the same.  I truly believe that and that is why I haven’t been back home in over two years.

Two years ago, my twin sister, Tayla, and I decided we were going to get away from this stupid town and make it big. Since we are both dancers, I thought for sure we would be dancing on Broadway by now. It’s funny how things don’t work out the way you have planned.

I groan underneath my breath as I look at the sign welcoming me back into this shit hole of a town. A town where I left everything behind and everyone besides Tayla. The town where I left the love of my life, Caine.

Now, after two years, I’m going to have to crawl back to the very man whose heart I broke standing on my doorstep. My pride bubbles inside of me, begging me to not do this. That there has to be another way out of this mess I have found myself in... But there isn’t. The only way I have a chance of rescuing my sister is by pleading with Caine and his brothers of The Dark Wolves Motorcycle Club.

My dog, Bowser, barks at the passing trees in the front seat of my little car. He’s a hyper corgi mixed with something else, but he’s the cutest stinkin’ thing in the world. I love that he’s a mutt.

We’re almost there, I tell him.

He looks over at me and barks. Silly dog.

My stomach feels heavy as I drive down the road to the club house. The very club house I never expected I would ever have to go to. Bile starts to rise in my throat but I choke it down. I can’t show up after two years looking like a mess when I see Caine again. I have to have some pride.

We’re here, I mumble to Bowser. He looks unphased and continues to look out the windows at all of the trees we’re passing. I’m glad my impending doom has little effect on my dog.

And that’s when I see it. The large warehouse looking club house I swore I never would go back to again. And I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Tayla. I need to find her before it’s too late.

Right at the gates is a younger brother who is leaning against the gate to go into the club house. This is something new and totally unexpected. Since when does a motorcycle club need gates and a guard to guard the club house? What the hell is up with that?

He does the twirl with his finger telling me to roll down my window, which I do. I don’t want to be here any longer than I have to be. This is the last place I want to be at.

    Especially right now.

He saunters over to my little car with more swagger than he probably normally has. Poor guy. I’m totally not interested in dating another biker. What’s your name? Who’re you here to see? He demands.

I look up at the young man in front of me and try to plaster on a smile. He’s a cute guy with blond hair and lighter features. He has HEART THROB written across his forehead though. I could smell the man whore on him from over here.

I’m Taylor Anderson. I’m here to see Caine, I explain. What I don’t tell him is the fact Caine probably doesn’t want to see me. I also don’t tell him that Caine would probably shun me away if he actually comes out here to look at me.

    I can’t do it.

Think of Tayla. Think of your sister. You need to find her before it is too late. Stop being a chicken.

Does the prez know you’re here? He asks quickly.

Uh, I don’t think so... It’s been a long time since I last saw him, I explain dumbly.

He looks me over and looks over at Bowser. Let me call him and I’ll get back to you.

He leaves me without saying anything else. When did Caine become the president? What the hell is up with that? I never expected he would actually grow in the club this quickly.

About three minutes  and a heart attack and a half later, the guard is walking back to my car. The prez doesn’t want to see you. His facial expressions show me he didn't want to be on the receiving end of that phone call.

Damn it. I should have warned him.

Fuck! Can I talk to him? I beg.

He growls. Look, lady, I don’t know what happened with you and the prez, but he doesn’t want to see you. So go on down the road.

My breath starts to come out quicker and narrows. My chest seizes up from the lack of oxygen filling my lungs. No! I beg.

My vision starts to blur a little on the side and I feel faint. My head shakes and my hands shake against the steering wheel. Please!

He looks frustrated. Fine. Hold on.

In a matter of minutes, I see a hand coming at me and opening the door. I know exactly who it is before I even look up. It is the one and only Caine. The man who stole my heart and who I gave my virginity to on the floor of my parents’ basement.

What the fuck  you doin’ here, Taylor? Caine’s raspy voice asks me.

I need your help. Please. You have to help me.

I chance a look up at the man and when our eyes clash, I wish I didn’t.

Gone are the days when he looked at me as if I were the most precious thing in the world to him. Now he looks at me with hate. I shiver under the intensity. His eyes look grayer than before, almost silver in some spots. His hair is a thicker brown than it was before, so is his beard. He looks as if he has matured in many different ways including his muscular body.

Caine’s scarred hands and the huge scar on his cheek call out to me to lick them.

    Wait, what?

Taylor, I’m not in the mood for your fuckin’ games. What are you doin’ here?

It’s Tayla. Someone took her when we were at a bar. I need your help finding her. The police aren’t doing anything. Please! I plead.

He’s looking over at me and then at Bowser. Is this some kind of game or some shit? I swear to fuckin’ god, if you’re fuckin’ with me!

I’m not! Please. I really need your help.

He weighs what I’m saying before nodding over to the guard. Let her in.

    Chapter Two

    Caine

Never in my life had I ever expected to see Taylor again. Especially not at the club she swore she hated. Now she wants my help? What the fuck is up with that?

Two years ago, she made it clear she was too good for this town and too good for me. And for the past two years, I have fuckin’ hated her. I hated her for leaving and leaving me behind. She promised me she would love me forever and then forever was shot
