    THE BIG BAD WOLVES

    Prologue

Once upon a time, I lived a marvelous life. Never was there a day when I didn’t get what I wanted. My parents were a match made in heaven. My siblings and I got along well, and we did everything together. Life was grand. Never did I go without...That’s how I wish I could start my fairytale. However, the Universe has never been that kind to me. The very first day, the Universe sent me into this world with a life far from any fairytale that you have ever read.

My mother owned a bakery on Earth and my father was a captain in the Celarian War Fleet. The planet Celarian was on the other side of the galaxy; however, he would visit my mother every time he came to Earth. Then the day of change came. My mother shared the good news that she was pregnant with a baby girl- me. He became enraged that she was pregnant with his child. He demanded that she end the pregnancy or give me up for adoption because he would not have a mongrel child associated with his name.

My mother being the strong, independent woman that she was, had chosen a different option. One that he hadn’t given her. She chose to move her bakery to the other side of Earth, away from any space docking station, and raise me on her own in the City of Rowan. The City of Rowan was where she was from. It was where her mother still lived. They weren’t on the best of terms because my mother had ignored my grandmother’s words and ventured off the path.

Fast forward through my youth. The countless fights I was in because I wasn’t born a full Earthling. In their eyes, I was a mongrel with no planet of my own. Countless hours I cried throughout my childhood. For every tear, my mother would always tell me, ‘Stay on the path, Redell Preston. No matter what. Do not let others push you to venture off the path. The galaxy is far worse than the City of Rowan.’

Still, to this day, I don’t know if those were words of encouragement for me to never give up or if she was simply telling me to suck it up because nowhere was I safe. That’s how she was. Always reminding me of a path to never venture off, but never explaining what the path was. She simply expected me to know what she meant.

When I would take the hydro-ship out to deliver baked goods, she would stand in the doorway and watch me. Stay on the path, Redell Preston, she would yell at me, as the door to the hydro-ship was closing. Every day. Every time. The same way. The same tone. Her routine never changed. My mother’s words and constant reminders drove me crazy my entire life. However, when she died, I wished she was still around to nag me about the path she wanted me to stay on.

If she was still around, I wouldn’t have wandered off the path and left the city on the day I came of age. My grandmother tried to get me to stay and work at the bakery. I didn’t have the heart too. The bakery had been too painful with my mother gone. It was time for me to explore the world.

    Chapter One

    And so, our Tale begins…

Halt, a Celarian soldier called out. Behind him were other Celarian soldiers. All of them with the same mission- to capture Redell Preston.

Redell weaved around objects, people, and animals that filled the busy streets and sidewalks of Fathom Market. As she jumped over animals and vendors’ carts, she became thankful for all the times she had to outrun her childhood bullies. They had made her very athletic and fast.

Halt! Stop in the name of the Celarian War Fleet Admiral Kingston, they shouted behind her. Their voices are getting farther away.

What the hell does a Celarian War Fleet Admiral want with me , she growled, never letting up on her pace.

Despite the market being crowded and her having only been in the city for a week, Redell knew her way around. Exploring was the only thing she had done for the past week while she waited for the next explorer shuttle that was bound for the Planet of a Hundred Rings. The planet was known for its collection of galactic history. She had always been fond of history and space. Her mother promised to take her one day but never did. Now that Redell was on her own nothing was stopping her from traveling to the Planet of a Hundred Rings or any other planet.

Miss, a squeaky male voice called out next to her. She hadn't stopped for the other vendors that tried to get her to buy their merchandise and she wasn't about to stop for him.

No time, she yelled out to him and continued running.

But those soldiers are a few blocks back. You outran them, the squeaky male voice chuckled. Redell looked over her shoulder. The Male was right. The soldiers were off in the distance. She came to an abrupt stop, bent over with her hands on her knees, and tried to catch her breath.

    Thanks, she panted.

No problem at all, Miss. Those Celarians are always picking on Earthlings. Just one more reason why I'm glad I'm not one, he groaned.

Redell finally turned her attention to the man who had saved her from wasting all her energy. He came up to her shoulder in height. Three multicolored eyes spread out across his enormous forehead. He was transparent green and slimy. Green slime slithered off him. Some of it splashing on her boots.

Sorry about that. It happ…, he began with an embarrassed tone. Redell waved his word off then stood tall.

You wouldn't be an Algaerus if you didn't, she smiled. He looked surprised at first but then clapped his hands together and jumped up and down with joy. The glob of goop that made his form jiggled with each jump.

    You know of my kind?

Of course. But why are you on Earth, she asked, walking down the street with the Algaerus by her side.

We are on an explorer shuttle tour to the Planet of the Hundred Rings.

Interesting, she said, not wanting to divulge any information to him. A faint ‘halt’ off in the distance brought her attention back down the street where they had just come from. She could once again see the soldiers pushing through the crowd her way. She let out a sigh of frustration.

Here we go again, she grumbled.

Looks like another adventure for you. Good thing us Algaerus are known for making slime messes that cause beings to slip and fall. Redell looked at him with hopeful eyes.

But you don't know me, she whispered.

Anyone who has pissed off a Celarian is a friend of mine. For the first time since her mother’s death, she felt warm and happy.

Thank you. Maybe one day we will meet up again and I'll repay the favor.

None of that. You owe me nothing. Off you go, he shooed her in the opposite direction of the soldiers. Not needing an invitation, Redell took off running down the street.

Haldar’s my name, the Algarus called out behind her. She waved her hand in the air.

    Thanks, Haldar!

Not once did she look back at Haldar or to see where the soldiers were. She just ran. And ran. In every direction that she could in hopes of losing them. But they seemed to always find her. They were gaining in on her. Her heart was pounding with adrenaline and fear of being caught. Her lungs seemed too constricted for her to breathe. Each breath in and out was forced.

It’s only a matter of time, she sobbed in her mind.

Redell knew that she was athletic, but she also knew the reality of the situation. Her body could only be pushed so far. She would either have to stop voluntarily to catch her breath or her breath would stop her by making her pass out from exhaustion.

Welcome to planet Earth. We welcome all…. Welcome to planet Earth… the ship docking port intercom announced over and over.

Thank heavens, Redell breathed, giving a quick glance to the sky above her. It was her way of giving gratitude to whichever god was in her favor. She only hoped they’d be in her favor for her next course of action.

    **

Redell pressed the button closing the door behind her before making her way to the spacecraft’s bridge. The craft she decided to hijack was an Excalibur 3000. It wasn’t the best craft for a quick getaway, but it was a craft that she was familiar with. Another reason for her to be thankful to her childhood bullies and breed. No friends meant more time to read up on and tinker with crafts.

Focus, Redell, she scolded herself. Once at the commanding station of the bridge, Redell began pressing the necessary buttons to start the craft. Stealing wasn’t part of her morals; however, neither was being captured by Celarian soldiers, who were chasing her for no reason. The thought of being captured by them terrified her.

Her father had been a Celarian soldier. And she knew of the way he treated her mother in the end. Redell wasn’t going to fall into the hands of a race that had no sympathy for mongrels like her.

Initiating starting sequence, the ship’s computer system announced.

Ha! Few more buttons and I’m home free. She rested her hand on the railing and watched the different initiating buttons light up as their system became ready.

Come on. Faster. Please. Just a little faster, she pleaded to the last two buttons. The sound of heavy footsteps heading in her direction made her swallow hard with fear. They had found her. It was only a matter of minutes before the Celarian soldiers would be marching her off the craft and back to their commanding officer.

    Hide!

The bridge of the craft was large, but it had hardly any safe places to hide. The spots she found were either too obvious or too small for her to fit.

Damn you, mother, she swore as she looked down at her thick thighs and round ass. Men loved a woman with curves like Redell; however, it made it difficult to hide. Think, Redell. Think.

The footsteps were getting louder and she could now hear men’s voices. Their accents were heavy. Like the accents of the old Australian and Scottish settlers. Those heading towards her had dreamy accents. Accents that had her standing in the same spot drooling over. Redell had only heard that accent on old shows that her grandmother kept stored on a screen disc. The screen disc was the only one of its kind. An old piece of history.

What the hell am I doing, she reprimanded herself. Hide you, damn idiot.

One more glance around the bridge and she decided the only place to hide was down a dead-end, short corridor in the back of the bridge. The corridor led to the worst hiding place ever. The bridge’s lavatory. Hiding where everyone used the bathroom was the last place she wanted to hide. Her chances of being discovered were a hundred percent. It would only be a matter of time before they found her. She hoped that hiding in the lavatory would buy her some time to come up with her next game plan.

    **

Redell watched on the lavatory’s creepy surveillance screen as a group of large males walked onto the bridge. She swallowed hard. This time not from fear but from arousal. The eight males who stood on the bridge were far from Celarian soldiers. They were far from any male she had ever seen. They weren’t Earthmen. No. They were from a planet that was the gods’ gift to females throughout the universe.

They were well over six feet tall and muscular built. Not skinny like the men on Earth. No. No, these males were the kind that could pick up heavy objects with one finger. They
