The perfect DRESS

Is this the house?’ I asked my best friend Lauren as I drew my car to the kerb and nodded towards a bungalow half-hidden behind a hedge.

‘Yup. Number 12.’ She gave a lopsided grin and added, ‘It could be worse, it could be number 13.’

‘Very funny,’ I replied.

‘It’ll be fine, Beth.’

‘Yes, I’ll hate the dress and we can move on.’

For sale, one wedding dress, worn… briefly. Who answered an ad so ominous? A woman organising her nuptials on a budget, that’s who.

‘It’s jinxed if the bride was jilted,’ I said while unclipping my seat belt.

‘Rubbish,’ replied Lauren. ‘I bet she bought two frocks and didn’t make up her mind until the last minute. Do yourself a favour, fall in love with it, just the way you fell in love with gorgeous Scott. Come on, let’s check it out.’
