Chapter 1

My heart thumped to the beat vibrating through the club. The Grey Wolf only opened its doors to humans a few times a year. Their annual Christmas costume party was one of those times.

My best friend, Sarah, jumped up and down and waved when she saw me from across the crowded bar. She was saying something, but I couldn’t hear her over the music and people in the club. Smiling, I made my way through the crowd to her table tucked in a back-corner close to the pool tables.

When I passed the main bar in the center of the open space, the bartender, Chad gave me a nod. I returned his gesture with a tight smile and a wave. Chad was one of the sentinels for the Pack. I believed Sarah said he was the Alpha's right hand.
